To adapt to the trend in development of global container terminal,and realize intensive utilization of terminal resources,the development idea of foreign trade container terminal is changing from expanding infrastructure to seeking scientific land area layout.Under the influence of the increasingly severe competition in global shipping logistics market,research on optimization method of land area layout for foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties is particularly important to guiding terminal planning and operation and promoting terminal competitiveness.Foreign trade container terminals are critical nodes in complex sea-land multimodal transportation network s)ystem,and production operations at terminals is influenced by various uncertainties.Based on uncertainty analysis theory,this paper depicts stochastic and dynamic characteristics of the containter terminal from system perspective,and constructs a model of land area layout at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties.Probability theory and system simulation are combined to adress the randomness of terminal operating system,and generate uncertain container freight demand as the model input.Meanwhile,simulation is used to accurately determine the parameters of the model.A simulation model based on Rockwell Arean simulation platform and VBA interactive technique is developed to calibrate the parameters of the layout optimization model.The optimization method of land area layout at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties is proposed from the planning level instead of the traditional operational level.In the stage of plane layout at foreign trade container terminal,influence factors of spatial scale and equipment configuration are complex.A two-stage stochastic programming model of yard layout at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertain storage demand is constructed.Under the limitations of investment budget and uncertainties,and based on yard design elements,such as yard scale and production equipment type and quantity,the optimization problem of the costs invested both in planning stage and in operational stage is investigated.Meta-heuristic sloving method combing simulated annealing and simulation optimization is designed to obtain the variables which is hard to be characterized by analytic expression,and provide the required information of random parameters and functions in the optimization model.The optimization method of yard spatial scale and equipment type and quantity at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties is proposed from both planning and operational levels.Inspection area is an important part of foreign trade container terminal,and its site and facilities deployment directly influence the operational efficiency of the terminal.A stochastic programming model of inspection area layout at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties is constructed.Under the condition of uncertainties,container inspection demand is generated by simulation.The impacts of inspection area site and facilities deployment on terminal traffic flow,ships' and trucks' arriva]and departure,trucks' queuing length and queuing time are investigated.Considering construction cost,operation cost and waiting cost,the problem of optimal site of inspection area and optimal quantity of facilities deployed is studied,and meta-heuristic method and double-cycle framework are designed for model solving.The optimization method of inspection area site and facilities deployment at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties is proposed from both planning and operational levels.Real-world foreign trade container terminals are taken as examples to verify the validity and practicability of the proposed optimization models of yard and inspection area layout at foreign trade container terminal considering uncertainties.
