Accessible Routes Study Inside Museums

In the new period,China's aging population size become larger and larger in addition to a sharp increase in the number of disabled that caused by the natural and man-made disasters.How do they participate in the social life equally has become a major proposition in order to build a harmonious society with a 'people-oriented'.Museum as bearing science education and cultural heritage of the public buildings,have huge complex functions using a wide range of typical characteristics,barrier free environment construction is a microcosm of the other public building of humanized design.Compared with the West,China's current criterion of accessible design is lack of independence and specific instructions in museum and cultural buildings,and the barrier free environment construction is lagging behind.Therefore,through the field research on the interior environment of domestic and foreign museums,based on the investigation of the evaluation of the museums' interior facilities by audience as well as the elderly and the disabled groups,the free barrier design research framework of the museum was established,and experiment plans were designed to obtain the data of access design.The construction of accessible routes design evaluation system was constructed,and the museum interior accessibility design guidelines' draft report was formed.The study not only expanded the richness of the museum design research and enriched the content of museum interior design,but also promoted accessible design theory of conforming to the physical characteristics of the Chinese people and the use of the habit.In addition,it also had a positive impact on other public buildings accessibility design and provided a reference for local public services and enhancing the ability of environment.There is a significant gap between China's accessibility design regulations and the quality of museums' interior environment and the western developed countries.It needs to be improved on four aspects including the design object and content and accessibility information and quantitative indexes of current barrier free design regulations.The museum interior barrier free design framework should cover a safe and convenient visit route,rich experience of display,available public services and easily identifiable signs system.Environmental barrier compensation design method,through the optimization of the access strategy and stimulating the sensory organs of the display strategy and enhancing the use of efficiency of operational strategy to improve the level of the museum's barrier free design.Some data of human body size and range of activities related to the current accessibility design in China need to be revised and supplemented.In this paper,based on the current standard of Human dimensions of Chinese adults(GB10000-88),there were three experiments to correct the data of Chinese size of the human body.And it also got the date of Chinese wheelchair users reach and the scope of distance and perspective.Then with the graph analysis method,the accessibility design data available in the standard design were verified to provide experimental basis for the Guide for interior accessible design of museum.The evaluation system for the accessibility design of museum was established,and the report of Guide for interior accessible design of museum was developed.Based on visitor route in museum and watch exhibition and public service and signs system,evaluation index was selected to establish the evaluation model.General analysis is followed by the interior design of Nanjing Museum evaluation.Results showed that the interior accessibility design of Nanjing Museum should be improved at the entrance;desk;drinking;toilet etc.and its display design could not take into account of the hearing impairment visiting demands.Since the accessible interior design evaluation of the Nanjing Museum score was 0.701 with Class B,so it should take some barrier free renovation design in the Service Center,Museum of art,Museum of history,Digital museum,Museum of the Republic of China and the Small Theater etc,then it can form a complete barrier-free flow line at last.Future studies will focus on the continually update of the data with the relevant size and scope of activities of the accessibility design and further exploration of barrier-free design details on the other public buildings as well as the complete atlas and so on.
