The research is based on the oratorio "La Passion de Simone"composed by contemporary Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho in 2006.It makes analysis focusing on its pitch organization,structure arrangement,timbre and orchestration techniques,following with an introduction of four stage works including "La Passion de Simone”to emphatically explain the inter-community and symbolic vocabulary.Kaija's stage works in the new century has shown the perfect combination of composing techniques and great narrative.Behind these works is the discussion,concern and inspections of self-spiritual attribute and major serious social problems today.This article consists of three parts:the first part is introduction of the development of oratorio at present,the general situation of Kaija's works in the new century as well as the previous studies.The second part includes three chapters,making respectively comprehensive conclusion and analysis of:the background&characters&composing technology(including the pitch organization,structure arrangement,timbre and orchestration techniques);inter-community between“La Passion de Simone " and Kaija's stage work(including female characters and symbolic vocabulary in music);the related cultural connotation of“La Passion de Simone”.The third part is the conclusion of Kaija's creating method,the spiritual and philosophical nature reflected in " La Passion de Simone",as well as exploration of its inspiration for the creation of stage works in new period.
