| Institutional analysis has occupied significant position in modern science of society. In the Politics, as a kind of reaction to behaviorism and rational choice, the historical institutionalism profoundly reflects the tradition and reality of western politics. The historical institutionalism has been showing strong integration capability to western society, at the meanwhile; it also makes positive contributions to the most large-scaled institutional change of human beings that China is experiencing. At present, it has important theoretical and practical meaning to pay great attention to the proposition of institutional change and deeply study its remodeling function on political processing. From the angle of theoretical development, the institutional change theory reflects the latest trend of political theory development, and keeps the same strain with political modernization and theory of democratic transition. From the angle of political reality, institutional change has responded to the appeal about the development of democratization, modernization and globalization of institution. To be specific, the research value of this thesis reflects in the follow three aspects:firstly, by means of looking back the change and development of historical institutionalism, this thesis has explored the historical development of institutional change theory. Secondly, by means of analyzing the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism, this thesis has studied the logic frame of institutional change. Thirdly, by means of analyzing the structure of institutional change method of historical institutionalism, this thesis has summarized the value of methodology used for the study of institutional change.As a key to open the world of politics, the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism has provided a kind of perspective and framework to analyze problem. It pays more attention to where is the institution from and where it to go. This thesis takes the opinion that the development of the institutional change theory is the sustainable accumulation of theoretical logic and historical process. Closely around institutional change, this thesis concerns the development process of institutional change theory of historical institutionalism, logical framework, main reason, way of change, the role of actor and idea, and tries to make systematic analysis and research on the theory and method about institutional change of historical institutionalism.The part of introduction mainly elaborates and analyzes the background and value of the research, internal and foreign documentation overview, framework and method of the study, main innovation and shortage, and further research design.Chapter one is about the development process of the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism. "Four Times'Back" of the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism means bringing the state back in, bringing actor back in, bringing idea back in, and bringing the diversity of capitalism back in. It covers main factors of institutional change analysis, and reflects the transfer, interleave, overlap and shift of the hot issues of institutional change theory. This part mainly makes analysis about the theoretical conflicts contained in "Four Times' Back", and the integration process of institutional change theory to ontology, research subject, new institutionalism genre and methodology.Chapter two is about the comprehensive analytical framework of the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism. This part analyzes the problematic consciousness, concept and connotation of the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism, explores the basic factors used for logical framework of the institutional change theory of historical institutionalism, concludes the evolution logic of institutional change analysis, and summaries the method construction of the institutional change of historical institutionalism. This part mainly analyzes the dynamic and comprehensive analytical framework. This thesis holds the opinion that the institutional change is an integration of structure, history and institutional system under certain time and space condition, is an "institutional complex" formed under the interaction of concept, benefit and institution, is a multiple and comprehensive institutional logical framework formed under the interaction of environment, actor and institution.Chapter three is about the Patterns for the Institutional Change Analysis of Historical Institutionalism. This part analyzes the comparison and analysis on four institutional change patterns that are derived from the logical framework of institutional change, namely, path dependence, punctuated equilibrium, critical juncture and gradual transition. Those four patterns overlap with each other and different elements combine together, jointly explaining such key problems as institutional stability, lasting and change. From the variation between "have" and "not have" of institutional regulation, changing to be the dense distribution of different power degrees of institutional regulation change, a set of complete lineage about institutional change patterns comes into being. In methodology, the bisection method of change and stability has been surpassed, and institutional change types have been expanded. Those four patterns inspect the institutional change from multi-dimensions, and the boundary of different patterns is changing to be indistinct. Different patterns distinguish but learn from each other, which enriches and improves the framework for institutional change analysis.Chapter four is about the theory of driving force of institutional change, and tries to systematically analyze the driving force for institutional change. Firstly, this part analyzes the source of theory for driving force of the institutional change of historical institutionalism, and compares different sources of driving force of institutional change from various genres. Secondly, combining the analytical framework of institutional change, this part classifies the driving force for the institutional change of historical institutionalism, and makes detailed breakdown on the changes caused by institution properties, actor and environment. Thirdly, this part pays attention to the analytical framework of driving force for the institutional change of historical institutionalism, and theoretically analyzes the main body, foundation, mechanism and structure of the driving force. Finally, this part analyzes the choice of driving force of institutional change on the basis of the four patterns for institutional change.Around the function of idea in the institutional change, Chapter five mainly elaborates four issues. First is about the ideational turn of each genre for new institutionalism, especially the relationship between the historical institutionalism and idea. The integration of idea by historical institutionalism is analyzed. Secondly, this part explores the relationship between idea and institution, and analyzes the complicated relationship pattern between idea and institution. Thirdly, clarifies the function of idea in the analysis of institutional change, and explains the institutional change with idea. Finally, this part analyzes that idea dominates the institutional change and the liberal value behind.In the methodology, this thesis persists in the unification of logic and history, emphasizes the combination of institutional method and historical method. Logical method is used to find out the logical rules through the phenomenon of institutional change of the political world. At the same time, historical comparison method is used to explore the institutional causality during the complicated and multiple relationships, which gives priority to qualitative research, with addition of the comparison and analysis of a small number of cases. In the analysis of institutional change, the causal mechanisms, interpretation, medium-range theory, and unification of time and space are emphasized. And, the document analysis method is mainly used to make overall and profound analysis on the development of the institutional change issues of historical institutionalism, which realizing the combination of theoretical analysis and value judgment. At the meanwhile, the interdisciplinary analysis method is used for the basic theory of institutional change, which gives priority to the political science subject orientation, and comprehensively applies economics, sociology and anthropology that are related to the institutional change. The multidisciplinary approach makes the research more comprehensive and thorough.Based on the above study, the possible innovations and contributions of this thesis are as follows.This thesis induces and systemizes the concept about institutional change of historical institutionalism. As for the problems that present research is disorder in concept and lack of general analytical framework, this thesis starts from two aspects of history and institutional change, and originally points out what is institutional change. The institutional change is a comprehensive theory analytical framework, which is under certain institutional environment, takes the institution complex formed by benefit, idea and institution as the core, emphasizes the interaction of actor, institution and environment under the constraint of history and structure, and finally improves the dynamic change of institution through recombination of different driving forces and then forming different change patterns.This thesis takes the opinion that this kind of comprehensive analytical framework for historical institutionalism effectively explains the conflict and fusion of various ontology such as structure and agency, substance and idea, change and stability, time and structure and etc., solves the contradiction between diversity and convergence of institutional change, provides resources to the complicated recombination of driving force for change, and expands and enriches the institutional change patterns such as Punctuated Equilibrium, Path Dependence, Critical Juncture and Gradual Transition. This thesis insists that under different environments, different variable sequence structures will bring about different change patterns and institution situations, and especially emphasizes the influence of interweave of actor's agency and idea on the combination process of different institutional elements. This thesis considers that effective arrangement of constitutionalism institution, idea of democratic constitutionalism, reasonable power allocation and benefit distribution are the pushing and restrict power for institutional change.Finally, the most important value is that this thesis has extracted the methodology about institutional change based on the comprehensive framework, the theory logic and historical law of institutional change. It helps to improve the practice of Chinese institution construction; responses to the internal and external demand from the aspects of theory and practice; effectively absorbs the innovation of practice from bases and learns form international institutional pattern; realizes enlightenment of concept, express of public benefit and optimization of constitutional government structure; provides the support of methodology to the magnificent and comprehensive process of institutional matrix change of China. |
