Research On New Social Movements In Western Developed Countries

In this thesis,the research content mainly includes four parts.The first part of this paper gives a overview of new social movements.On the basis of analysis of related concepts of new social movements,through describing the process of new social movements in western developed countries,chapter one analyzes new social movements from two angles of sociology and political science in the aspect of nature as well as summarizes the characteristics of it.This part analyses the theoretical tools and research perspective of new social movements emphatically.Chapter one analyzes related concepts such as social movements,traditional workers'movements and new social movements.Describing the development of new social movements in the United States and Europe respectively and how to merge them,on this basis,the nature of new social movements is analyzed from the perspective of sociology and political science.Finally,this chapter extracts characteristics of them.Their features include a wide range of social foundation,diverse ideology,irregular movement form,decentralized organization form,network mobilization.Chapter two mainly focused on theoretical aspect introduces analysis tools of new social movements.They include resource mobilization theory,theory of collective action,social change theory and the theory of the political process.The second part aims to analyze the reason of new social movements deeply.Chapter three makes a in-depth interpretation on it from the viewpoints of change,structure,discourse.Social changes include the anomaly of modernization,the result of the crisis of modernity and the the conflict of social transformation and upgrade.The The country's social structure is affected by the complex influence of state structure and the dominant effect of social structure.Ideological discourse include a new building of ideology,the new development of mass culture and the new form of identity consciousness.The third part mainly studies the impact,the countermeasure and the predicament of new social movements.The influences of new social movements in western countries are mainly reflected in three aspects.There are party politics,the social focus and democratic ideas.The countermeasures of western countries to cope with the new social movements include enhance social identity,maintain the current political system,and adjust its strategy for the party,give play to the role of national interest adjustment,to prevent and resolve social conflicts as well as optimize the structure of political system.Difficulties mainly include the chaotic theoretical support,unclear development path and clear-cut dominant force.The fourth part emphatically analyzes the development trend of new social movements and the relationship with socialism.Chapter five analyzes the development trend of new social movement involving institutionalized,systematization and globalization.On the basis of the comparison between new social movements and socialist movement,chapter six claim that new social movements and socialist movement exists not only difference and challenge but also similar and convergence.Their relationship is contradiction,alienation and cooperation.Through the study of new social movements in the western developed countries,this paper puts forward the following opinions:First,the new social movements is the embodiment of the contemporary developed capitalist countries in a new stage of social development.New social movements reflect the overall characteristics and the latest changes of the contemporary capitalism entered a new stage.In stead of the traditional workers' movement,new social movements in the capitalist countries become the most important and most influential social protest force in the developing country.It shows that contemporary capitalism has changed profoundly inc involving informatization,risks,expansion,globalization and so on.The basic contradiction of capitalism in the developed stage also has a new development,however,the nature of capitalism and the historical development trend of the contemporary capitalism have not changed.Second,the development of new social movements is a manifestation of the diversity of the contemporary world socialist movements.New social movements took place in the developed countries.It is an important force against capitalism.To some extent,it has become the important manifestation of the socialist factors in the western developed countries.Although there are differences compared to the traditional workers' movements,it still with the diversity of value appeal challenges the contemporary capitalist social system,and poses a threat to the capitalism system and order.It is a neutral left the political stance in nature.Its many ideology and value ideal derive from socialism,and has similarities with Marxism in many aspects.To some extent,its value pursuit reflects ultimate value of socialism.In general,new social movements has more obvious trend of socialism in the direction of development.
