MOOCs are "Massive Open Online Courses",essentially online instructional and learning resources,which are used to break the restriction of space,so that as many learners as possible freely learn from experienced teachers of the elite and are provided with value-added services,such as education certification.MOOCs have been increasingly popular in the world and widely concerned internationally since 2012.And MOOCs have already caused widespread concern from government,media,business and education,and so on,especially in the United States,Canada,Britain,Germany,Australia and China.The instruction is always the most important in higher education.Under the background of the deepening of the instructional reform in higher education and the unbalanced supply of superior educational resources,booming information technology has become a powerful driving force for the instructional reform in colleges and universities and the educational informationization,characterized by the deep integration of information technology and education and instruction,has gradually become an innovation trend of higher education in our country.As typical cases of educational information,MOOCs which successfully create a business mechanism of "Internet&Education" not only make the quality of instructional quality dominant,a recessive problem,in the international competition of higher education,so that completely stir the global market structure of higher education,but also share and spread education resources from top universities in the world and meet the desire of people for advanced knowledge while facilitating innovations of organization models,instructional models and service models in colleges and universities.In recent years,MOOCs have been developed from theoretical research to practical application and gradually been strategies of higher education informationization.However,many MOOC resources have not been effectively applied and popularized for some reasons,for example,the theoretical deficiencies of MOOC innovation and diffusion,the problems of educational practice and various obstacles in the integration of MOOCs and traditional instruction,and so on.Accordingly,it is necessary to focus on the construction,application,innovation and diffusion of MOOCs in China.This paper researches on the innovation diffusion of MOOCs in colleges and universities,involving motivation and paths.That is to say,this paper mainly studies the nature of innovation diffusion,characteristics of innovation,values of diffusion,diffusion power,practice status and diffusion paths of MOOCs to provide theoretical reference and realistic basis for the deep integration of MOOCs and the instruction in colleges and universities,the improvement of the ability of application of educational technology of teachers and students and instructional level and quality in colleges and universities,the instructional reform in higher education,resource sharing and educational justice by using the literature review,scientometrics,content analysis,expert interviews and questionnaire,and other research methods and tools based on problems of popularization and application of MOOCs and theories of technology diffusion.The research contents and results are as follows.1.According to the innovative diffusion theory,technology acceptance model and decomposed theory of planned behavior,disruptive innovation theory,sustaining innovation theory and concepts of MOOCs,innovation diffusion and diffusion of educational technology,this paper reveals the connotation and essential characteristics of innovation diffusion of MOOCs in colleges and universities and its elements and constructs the analytical framework.2.This paper analyzes innovative characteristics of MOOCs and MOOCs' potential impacts on the reform of higher education based on the innovative diffusion theory,disruptive innovation theory and sustaining innovation theory to explore the internal motivation of innovation diffusion of MOOCs from the values of objects.3.This paper divides stakeholders of MOOCs into internal stakeholders and external stakeholders by colleges and universities.And this paper analyzes these main stakeholders and their driving forces and resistance factors of innovation diffusion of MOOCs,constructs the analysis model of innovation diffusion power of MOOCs and discusses the relationship between diffusion power and diffusion paths based on the theory of technology acceptance.4.This paper analyzes the practice of innovation diffusion of MOOCs in terms of MOOC projects and supporting environment in colleges and universities.Firstly,this paper designs the framework of investigation on the basis of literature review and expert consultation.And then,this paper analyzes the construction and application of Chinese MOOC platforms and investigates the management systems and supporting policies of MOOCs in colleges and universities by content analysis and questionnaire respectively.Finally,this paper reveals the overall situation,of the localized diffusion of MOOCs in China,especially common problems.5.This paper maps "scale","quality" and "cost",three factors of traditional instruction to "introduction and construction","application and practice","management and service"respectively and then constructs the innovation diffusion path system of MOOCs of universities and colleges in China around domestic early adopter institutions and key groups of MOOCs based on centralized diffusion system model,non-centralized diffusion system model and the policy guidance of online education in our country.
