Along with the advent of knowledge-based economy, knowledge-based employees are important recourses for the development of enterprises. By way of the labor of knowledge-based employees, the innovation, application and accumulation of knowledge can be fulfilled significantly. Moreover, the multifunctional role of knowledge-based employees as carriers, innovators and users plays an important part in competition in the business world. Therefore, it has become one of most heated issues for both scholars home and aboard and enterprises owners to focus on the motivation of them in order to gain abundant profits. In the knowledge-based economy era, IT industry is one of the key pillar industries and indispensable economic sector. Meanwhile, more talented personnel work intensively in this business circle. Apart from general characteristics, the knowledge-based employees in the IT industry perform their own unique traits. In view of the above mentioned analysis, this paper intends to analyze the models of the motivation for the employees in the IT industry. The main contents are as follows:Part 1 On the basis of the clarification of the goal and methods of the research, the literature review covers the following aspects:the basic concepts, classic models of motivation, definition of the knowledge-based enterprises and personnel, the qualifications of the knowledge-based employees and management measures.Part 2 After a general model for motivating staff in IT industry is described, an analysis to their characteristics is made and clarification of the employees' needs and demands are involved in the analysis and some elements and factors are listed accordingly. Five motivation models are put forward based on relevant theories and statistic figures concerned.Part 3 Five aspects are considered in designing the motivation models, which are payment system, working condition, post diversity, institutional promotion, and personal pursuit. In addition, an effective motivation frame is also offered for the employees in IT industry.Part 4 A survey of FORECAST's performance is made as a case study in terms of motivation models to support the research statement. A questionnaire and data collection is used to illustrate its process of management as well as demonstrate the future improvement. In conclusion section, the paper summarizes the results of the research and highlights its innovative viewpoints. It also offers significant guideline for further study.
