Energy drives the economic development,so energy security has been closely connected with the sustainability of economic development.The massive consumption of traditional fossil fuels not only brings great pressure on energy security,but also leads to a series of issues such as global warming and environmental pollution.Therefore,it is urgent to find alternative fuels.Due to its cleanness and sustainability,renewable energy has been considered as the idealest solution to the dilemma of energy security,economic development,climate change and environmental issues.Governments around the world believe that renewable energy will be the main energy source in the future,and spare no efforts to push the development of renewable energy.After enterning 21st century,renewable energy industry around the world has made great progresses,and China is among the best,who has ranked first in the world for several years,both in the construction of wind and solar PV installation.Dispite the large scale of renewable energy utilization,it is not the only criteria for the development performance of renewable energy.Contribution to economy and energy system,the progress of energy and environmental technology,and the interaction between renewable energy and society and environment should also be involved in the performance of renewable energy.Besides,the development of renewable energy industry can also be affected by factors from a lot of aspects.However,existing researches on the development performance of renewable energy mainly focus on some specific aspects,which are usually conducted through some simple analyzing methods.What's more,researches on factors affecting the development of renewable energy industry are very limited,especially that very few related researches have used any quantitative methods,and they failed to identify the critical factors that affect the development of renewable energy industry.Under this background,the dissertation intends to explore the following critical problems: what is the scientific content of development performance of renewable energy? How is China's development performance of renewable energy when comparing with other countries? What are the factors that affecting the development of renewable energy industry in China? What can we learn from the policy and practice of the developed countires? How to enhance the competitiveness of China's renewable energy industry?In order to solve the above problems,this dissertation tries to explain the content of the development performane of renewable energy from a comprehensive and scientific prospective,and establish an evaluation framework for the development performance of renwable energy.Based on this evaluation framework,it will evaluate the development performance of renewable energy in 13 countries including China for the period of 20042013.After that,it tries to identify the critifal factors that affect the development of renewable energy industry in China,and provide some policy implications for the sustainable development of China's renewable energy industry.Therefore,this study tries to focus on the following contents:?1?Based on existing researches,it tries to present the content of the development performance of renewable energy from the five aspects of energy performance,economic performance,technical performance,social performance and environmental performance,and establish an evaluation framework for evaluating the development performance of renewable energy;?2?It will build an integrated evaluating model based on several kinds of multi criteria decision making methods,and then use this evaluating model to evaluate and analyze the development performance in 13 countries for the period of 20042013;?3?It tries to employ SWOT model to summarize the factors that affecting the development of renewable energy industry in China,and then use Fuzzy-DEMATEL model to identify the critical ones;?4?According to the results of development performance evaluation of renewable energy and factors affecting the development of China's renewable energy industry,it tries to provide some policy implications for the further development of China's renewable energy industry by learning the experiences of the United States,Japan and the European Union.The main contents and structure of this dissertation are as following:Chapter one is the section of introduction.It elaborates the background and significance of this research,clarifies the related concepts of renewable energy and the development performance of renewable energy.This chapter also points out the research goals and contents,and finally determines the research methods and technical map.Chapter two is the section of literature review.This part reviews the researches on the concepts,indicators and research methods about the development performance of renewable energy,as well as the researches on factors affecting the development of renewable energy industry.By reviewing existing researches,it summarizes their findings and limitations,and explores some space and points for improvement in this dissertation.Chapter three establishes the evaluating framework for the development performance of renewable energy.From the prospective of sustainable development,this chapter conceptualizes the contents of development performance of renewable energy as five aspects: energy performance,economic performance,technical performance,social performance,and environmental performance.After defining the basic principles it analyzes the specific contents of the five dimensions,and then selects indicators of the evaluating framework for each dimension.Finally,it establishes an evaluating framework for evaluating the development performance of renewable energy with five dimensions and 21 indicators.Chapter four builds an integrated model for evaluating the development performance of renewale energy.This chapter compares some kinds of evaluating methods that are usually used in social socience.Due to the multi dimensions and uncentainty of our problems,it selects several optimization and multi-criteria decision-making methods,and integrates them into a compressive set of methods,AGA-EAHP-EM-TOPSIS-PROMETHEE,which can be used to evaluate the development performance of renewable energy in this study.Chapter five is the section of evaluation on the development performance of renewable energy.Based on the established evaluation framework of development performance of renewable energy in previous chapter,this part chooses 13 countries from OECD and BRICS,and collects the data for each country with respect to each indicator during the period of 20042013.By employing the established model of AGA-EAHP-EM-TOPSIS-PROMETHEE,it allocates weights to each indicator,and then assessts and analyzes the development performance of renewable energy for 13 countries during the period of 20042013.Chapter six analyzes the factors that affect the development of renewable energy industry in China.It employs the tool of SWOT Analysis to summarize the strengthes,weaknesses,opportunities and threats of China's renewable energy industry.After that,it uses Fuzzy-DEMATEL model to analyze the causal relationship among these factors,catogerizes them into two groups: cause group and effect group,and finally identifies the critical factors.Chpater seven provides some policy impalications for the development of China's renwable energy industry.This chapter compares the policy for renewable energy industry in the United States,Japan and European Union,and then analyzes the history and deficiency of China's policy for renewable energy industry.Lastly,it provides some policy implications for the sustainable development of China's renewable energy industry based on previous researches on the development performance of renewable energy and factors affecting the development of renewable energy industry.Chpater eight is the section of conclusions.It summarizes the contents and conclusions of the whole study,and extracts the achievements and innovations of this dissertation,and it also illustrates the limitations of this study.The contributions and innovations of this dissertation are as following:?1?It defines the content of the development performance of renewable energy,which overcomes the limitation of single dimension in existing researches,and establishes a 21-indicator evaluating framework from the aspects of energy performance,economic performance,technical performance,social performance,and environmental performance.?2?Based on existing researches from the prospective of cross section or individual country,it extends the researches on the development performance of renewable energy in both horizontal comparative study and vertical trend study.It establishes the integrated evaluating model of AGA-EAHP-EM-TOPSIS-PROMETHEE,tests the effectiveness of the TOPSIS-PROMETHEE model,and measures the development performance of renewable energy for 13 countries during the period of 20042013,which can be of some significance for the studies on evaluating the development performance of renewable energy.?3?By employing the methods of SWOT Analysis and Fuzzy-DEMATEL,it identifies the critical factors that affect the development of China's renewable energy industry,which can provide scientific foundation for the government to make policy decisions to guarantee the sustainable development of its renewable energy industry.
