Nanjing is known as the "Center of world culture" and "The first-class level of education in Southeast Area".The level of education has always been at the forefront of China.Nanjing City occupies an important historical position in modern Chinese history.Therefore,taking "Nanjing Modern Educational Architecture" as the research object had important historical significance and representativeness.At present,the research on Nanjing modern educational architecture was mostly independent and scattered.This article for the first time comprehensively,in-depthly,and systematically studied modern educational architecture in Nanjing in order to provide historical clues to educational architecture heritage protection and give historical experience and lessons to campus construction today.This article focused on history,supplemented by the history theory,and combined the both.Based on-the-spot investigation and research and a large amount of selective primary data at home and abroad,sociology and pedagogy was introduced to conduct cross-disciplinary research.It had presented the modernization process of Nanjing educational architecture.It included a comprehensive analysis of the historical development of Nanjing's modern educational architecture,an in-depth analysis of its development characteristics,and revealed the development drivers behind it.At the same time,through the analysis of the evolution of modern educational architecture in Nanjing,it revealed the internal process and development law of modern education from traditional to modern,and discussed how the changes of modern educational concept affected the development of educational building space.Through the detailed architectural case analysis,the technical characteristics of Nanjing modern educational buildings were deeply analyzed.The paper consisted of eight chapters,and there was a close logical relationship between the them.The first chapter was the introduction,which clarified the research object,content and methods,and reviewed the existing research results.The second chapter was the background and development of Nanjing modern educational architecture.It expounds the reasons of the research stage and classification,outlined the characteristics of Nanjing modern educational architecture,and described the current situation.The third to sixth chapters were the historical study of modern educational architecture in Nanjing.The line is the main process of Nanjing educational architecture.It was carried out from two aspects.Longitudinally 1840-1949 were divided into four historical periods according to the development characteristics of modern educational buildings in Nanjing: the late Qing Dynasty(1840-1911),the Republic of China and the Nationalist Government of Nanjing(1911-1937),Japanese occupation(1937-1945),and the Nationalist Government returning Nanjing after war(1945-1949)and the historical development of Nanjing's modern educational architecture was sorted in time;Horizontally,the architectural characteristics of the local and church schools,planning and construction characteristics and corresponding school cnstruction strategies,rules and regulations,In the four historical periods were explored based on the local and colonial clues.Development motivation of educational buildings in various historical periods also was summed up.From longitudinal and horizontal aspects,the paper formed a detailed study of the stage feature and a panoramic view of the historical development of the modern educational architecture of Nanjing.The seventh chapter was about the historical causes of modern educational buildings in Nanjing.From the aspects of society,politics,economy,culture and education,we understood the historical logic and development motivation of educational architecture development,with a view to combining history and history theory.The eighth chapter was the conclusion,summarized the research results of this paper,and gave a perspective on the follow-up study.
