Continuous product innovation is the key to keep and improve the core competitiveness of enterprises,in the intensely competitive international market environment.Conceptual design is one important stage of product design,which could provide larger innovative space,reflect the wisdom and creativity of designers/engineers,determine the structural characteristics and technology performance of products.As a kind of creative thinking and skill,analogy plays a significant role in innovative concepts generation.Based on the research of analogical reasoning in psychology,by means of experimental study and methodology study,lots of scholars explored the appropriate timing,functions of analogy in design process and its impact on design output.They put forward different models to represent design knowledge,different algorithms for retrieval and several kinds of knowledge transfer characteristics.Although there are fruitful achievements,experiments were conducted from many perspectives and scopes,making their results and conclusions various and inconsistent;also methodology research lacks the correlation study of knowledge representation and transfer,and the retrieval mode is stiff.On the basis of existing research results and imperfections,this paper deeply explored part of key questions faced during the application of cross-domain analogy in product innovative design process.Knowledge representation model,analogues retrieval mode,formal description strategies and implementation method are determined.This thesis includes the following main content:1?Literature review:state of the art of Analogy and Analogy based DesignThe meaning of this research work and the key questions confronted in the analogy based innovative design process were analyzed.Analogues were divided into within-domain analogues and cross-domain analogues based on the summing up and discussion of existing categories.Further,cross-domain analogues were classified into near-field analogues,medium-field analogues and far field analogues.The basic concepts are defined clearly and the research subject and scope are delimited.2?Experimental exploration:the impact of different analogues on design outcome and the content of design knowledge transferThe influence of different kinds of analogues on innovativeness of design output was explored,by means of experiment design,data statistics and processing tool SPSS(Statistical Product and Service Solutions)22.0,in the scope of engineering system.Three types of design knowledge transfer—working principle,action process and part of structure—were extracted,through the analysis about design knowledge mapping from the target design solutions to their respective analogue/analogues.3?Knowledge representation:the construction of design knowledge representation modeling in the process of cross-domain analogyThe existing design knowledge representation models are clustered into three groups:models oriented on design process,models oriented on technical system,models oriented on problem analysis.Taking three types of design knowledge transfer as evaluation criterion,the former two kinds of models were compared.Finally,R-SBF(Refined Structure-Behavior-Function)was put forward based on SBF(Structure-Behavior-Function)model.4?Knowledge formalization:bridging the gap between knowledge representation and analogues retrievalOntology was chosen as a formalized knowledge representation strategy.With the aid of ontology editing tool Protégé5.2.0,a domain ontology model,oriented on R-SBF,was built,which not only provide representation method,but also lay a foundation to the research of analogues retrieval and computer aided tools development.5?Analogues retrieval:building the process of retrieving analogues and its realizationThe retrieval and ranking strategy,?Predominantly functional similarity,auxiliarily industrial similarity?,was adopted,based on the above experiment results.Applying semantic analysis into analogues searching algorithm,F_sD(Single-function&&Industrial domain)retrieval mode and F_mD(Multi-function&&Industrial domain)retrieval mode were put forward.Therein,starting from global function,the former mode was realized through the construction of functional similarity measurement model,on the basis of ontology and concept connected graph.In the latter mode,starting from behavior diagram,the behavior is firstly converted to several sub-functions by means of mapping behavior to functions implemented by production rules.Then,the?function–case?matrix is built based on LSA(Latent Semantic Analysis)and adapted weight setting method.The dimension of matrix is reduced by SVD(Singular Value Decomposition),followed by the calculation of cosine similarity among cases.6?Prototype development:developing computer-aided tool oriented on cross-domain innovative design and establishing the whole application modelGuided by RUP software development process and incremental model,a prototype software,AADI(Cross-domain Analogy Aided Design Innovation),was developed,utilizing C++/C#?XML?MySql,et al.,in the Windows operating system environment.A product innovative design process model aided by AADI was built and applied into the innovative design of robot vacuum cleaner.
