The basic task of building POE is to collect users' information on the use and evaluation of built environment,and to reveal their psychological needs and value judgment of the target environment through the scientific analysis of these information.Its purpose is to provide the necessary reference for future design of similar environment,so as to promote the realization of positive environmental effects to a greater extent.As a design feedback mechanism,building POE is not only the main channel for designers to understand the effect of environmental design,but also an important way for the public to express their wishes for life.It plays a key role in promoting the democratization of design.In the study of POE for children,such as primary school,children's hospital,adolescent science and technology museum,etc.,due to the particularity of children,there are many problems in data collection and analysis of traditional POE methods,which bring difficulties to the POE feedback.In order to solve the basic problems in the study of POE for children,explore the appropriate methods of POE for children,and promote our understanding of how children understand,use and evaluate the built environment,this paper takes primary school children(6-12 years old)and primary school campus environment as the research object to carry out POE information research for children.The research focuses on four main POE information sources(children's structured questionnaire,children's behavior observation,children's painting and children's free report)to explore the main problems and how to make full use of these POE information effectively.This paper makes a thorough discussion from the following aspects:Firstly,using the method of literature research,this paper makes a basic research on the theory of POE method for children.By reviewing the relevant research background,the specific research direction,content and objectives of this paper are determined.According to the discussion of the types of building POE,combined with the analysis of the characteristics of primary school children related to building POE,this paper outlines a research mode of building POE for primary school children,clarifies what & how to study children in building POE,which lays a theoretical foundation for the follow-up study of this paper.Secondly,through extensive surveys in several primary schools,the main problems of conventional POE methods for children were found and summarized.According to the survey results,these specific problems mainly include: 1)POE operation for children;2)scale of children's environmental assessment;3)interpretation of evaluation results of children's point assignment;4)observation of children's behavior.For the first problem,combined with the practical experience of building POE,the suggestions of the corresponding methods are put forward through the analysis of the reasons.For the second to the third problems,using the method of questionnaire test,this paper tries to establish a scale of environmental assessment suitable for primary school children,matches the evaluation results of point assignment and interval assignment,and uses the scale and point assignment evaluation method to carry out practical research for solving the two problems initially,so as to draw some useful conclusions and suggestions.For the last problem,through the theoretical study of behavior observation method,this paper points out the basic principles and main research methods for children's behavior observation,and comprehensively uses these methods to study children's environmental behavior,so as to put forward some suggestions on children's behavior observation.The special research on the above four basic issues initially solves the outstanding problems in the process of POE research for primary school children.The case study of the application provides some references for other related studies,and the suggestions provide an operational guidance for similar researches in the future.In the last part of this paper,the new research methods in the fields of painting psychology and natural language processing technology are used to explore the feasibility of their application in children's POE.According to the exploration of the methods,the general research methods of POE in “children's paintings” and “NLP + children's compositions” have been initially developed,and the main research approaches,analysis methods and general operation procedures of these two methods have been pointed out through several case studies.The exploration of interdisciplinary approaches broadens the perspective of POE research for primary school children,and makes up for the shortcomings of traditional methods when facing children.This research belongs to the specialization of POE method for special group.This paper not only makes a comprehensive discussion on the methods of POE for primary school children,but also focuses on the practical application of the corresponding methods through many case studies.The research results make POE methods more pertinent to special group from various angles,and further optimize the rationality and applicability of relevant methods.To a certain extent,this study makes up for the shortcomings of traditional research methods,actively expands and enriches the research visions and ways of building POE methods,and provides the necessary theoretical basis and method support for future researches on building POE for similar groups.
