| China is aging more rapidly than almost any country in recent history and it becomes a prominent problem nationwide.In recent years the community-based senior care service becomes the main stream for the elderly.However,even though the Chinese government introduced many relevant senior care policies,as well as the launching of large amount of senior care services,there appear many issues and problems in the existing community senior care facilities and programs,that raise new challenges to the building and planning of the community-based senior care programs.This thesis targets specifically on the problem,in which it carries on a thorough research and puts forward perspectives and advice about addressing the issues in Architectural Programming for Community Senior care.The above question 1 is investigated in Chapter Two based on the methodology of the System Theory by analyzing the Supply and Demand mechanism.It reveals that 5 participating parties from the supplier side,the demand side,and the management side all contribute to the problem,under the influence of social,geographical,economical and time constraints.Based on this finding,certain specific problems facing in the community senior care program/construction are further investigated to sort out the root cause,and corresponding solutions or coping strategies are proposed.Chapter Three of the thesis covers the 2nd question above.In terms of the Architectural Programming theory and methods,the community senior care planning can be divided into 7 steps: project investigation,target positioning,investment operation,functional scale,spatial form,comprehensive revision and outcome formulation.Regarding the question 3 above,Chapter 4 discusses the detailed procedures and methods in implementing each of the 7 steps.For example,it includes the methodology on project planning and research for the “project research” step;in the target positioning section,it describes how to establish the construction goals along with the service objectives;in the investment operation section,it emphasizes on various aspects of the investment operation such as investment efficiency,operation strategy,service projects,and operational technologies;at the stage of architectural design as part of the functional scale it discusses the room planning,function organization,and area scale.Then it continues on the architectural space and environmental issues such as spatial forms,spatial interfaces,and environmental relations.In addition,it also explores how to evaluate and revise existing plans.Finally it provides a list of outcomes out of the planning and the corresponding budget control.After the proposed implementation details are concluded in Chapter 4,two cases studies are presented in Chapter 5 as verification.In Chapter 6,the extension and trends of community-based senior care development are discussed. |
