BackgroundDepression is a common mental disease which afflicts human beings physically and psychologically. With the rapid development of society and economy, and the acceleraton of life paces, great changes have taken place in spectrum of diseases as people burden increasing mental pressure.Mental disorders gradually become a usual disease with its rising incidence recent years. The rate of diagnosis and treatment for depression is very low nowadays, and the conventional method is drug treatment.Becasuse depression is the complicated mental disease, any single drug can not treat the multiple symptoms.Acupuncture therapy has the role of integrated and multiple targeted for depression, music therapy has a benign regulation effect on emotion, both therapies have paid great attention by many clinical researches.Although many studies had been carried out, these studies still could not supply enough effective evidence based medicine for acupuncture combined music therapy. In order to verify the curative effect of acupuncture combined music therapy for depression,we searched and optimized many depression protocols in recent years, confirm four different protocols for treating depression.Based on the principles of evidence based medicine,we carried out a randomized and controlled trail,to supply objective evidences for acupuncture combined music therapy treating depression and to promote the wide clinical application of acupuncture combined music treatment for depression.Objective1.to confirm the validity of acupuncture therapeutic proposals and music therapy for depression.2.to evaluate the features and advantages of the different proposals based on the validity of therapy for depression.3.to discuss the influences of different depression treatment protocols to patients' self-assessment of clinic results and health condition.Methods120 patients admitted in inpatient department and outpatient department of First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from January,2017 to December,2017 were selected as study objects and randomly divided into four groups by Random Number Table,eletroacupuncture(EA)group(30 cases),acupuncture group(30 cases),music therapy group(30 cases),acupuncture combined with music therapy group(30 cases).EA group was treated with needling Bauhui(DU 20),Shenshencong(EX-HN1),Shenting(GV 24),Neiguan(PC6),Shenmen(HT 7),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Taichong(LR 3),selecting the G-6805 type ? electric acupuncture apparatus, sparse wave,15-30 Hz frequency,15 to 20 minutes once a day.The acupoints selected in the acupuncture group was the same to the EA group with manual intervention once a day.Music therapy group was treated with five-element music therapy once a day.acupuncture combined with music therapy group were treated with the therapy include acupuncture group and music therapy group once a day.All of the therapies were 5 day as a cycle with 2 day intermission and lasted for 8 weeks.Weight,Hamilton depression scale(HAMD),hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)and clinical observation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms among 4 groups were compared so as to evaluate the clinical efficacy and treatment emergent symptom Scales(TESS)of 4 groups were compared in order to evaluate the safety.Results1.Compared of baseline among 4 groups before treatmentBefore treatment, there was no significant difference in the general data(including ages, weight)as well as HAMD,HAMA,clinical observation table of TCM symptoms among 4 groups(P>0.05)with balanced baseline and comparability.2.Compared of weightWight changed to some extent in all groups after treatment.Weight decreased in acupuncture group and eletroacupuncture group and there were no significant differences when compared before treatment(P>0.05).Weight increased in music therapy group which was no significant differences when compared before treatment(P>0.05)and acunpuncture combined music therapy group which was significant differences when compared before treatment(P<0.01).eletroacupuncture group was evidently less than music group and acupuncture combined music therapy(P<0.05),acupuncture group(P<0.01).3.Compared of HAMD scoresHAMD scores decreased to some extent in all groups after treatment and there were significant differences when compared before treatment(P<0.01).After treatment, acupuncture combined with music therapy group was evidently less than the other groups in HAMD score, and the difference was significant(P<0.01).4.Compared of HAMA scoresHAMA scores decreased to some extent in all groups after treatment and there were significant differences when compared before treatment(P<0.01).After treatment, acupuncture combined with music therapy group was evidently less than the other groups in HAMD score, and the difference was significant(P<0.01).5.Compared of TCM symptom clinical efficacyTCM symptom scores decreased to some extent in all groups after treatment and there were significant differences when compared before trentment(P<0.01).The evaluation results of clinical efficacy of TCM symptoms of 4 groups showed that the clinical efficacy of EA group, acupuncture group, music therapy group, acupuncture combined with music therapy group were 67.7%,63.3%,53.3%,86.7%,respectively,and there were significant differences among 4 groups(P<0.01).6.Compared of TESS scoresThe results of TESS score evaluation of 4 groups demonstrated that the TESS score was highest in EA group and lowest in acupuncture combined with music group. There were significant differences in all groups after treatment(P<0.01).acupuncture combined with music therapy group was evidently less than the other groups in TESS score, and the difference was significant(P<0.01).Conclusion1.Eletroacupuncture,acupuncture,music therapy and acupuncture combined with music therapy can effectively improve the depression and anxiety severity,TCM symptom.Compared with the other groups, acupuncture combined with music therapy is more superior in improving the depression and anxiety severity,TCM symptom, with better clinical efficacy and less adverse response in patients with depression.2.Acupuncture combined with music therapy has benign effect and less side effect in the treatment of female depression, which provides a clinical basis for the treatment of depression by taking psychology and physiology as the breakthrough point at the same time.3.Acupuncture combined with music therapy are more effective than those single method in clinical efficacy in middle-aged women with depression.
