Objective1. Seeking evidences of treatment of Depression by Acupuncture & five-element-music therapy through the reviews of previously published studies.2. Comparing the advantages between acupuncture & five-element-music group and western medicine group by safety, economy and recurrence.3. Systematically improve acupuncture & five-element-music therapy, to confirm its possibility of clinic promotion in order to make it to be a mature treatment for depression.Method60 patients, who met the diagnostic criteria were taken randomly from The Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Out Patient Department Encephalopathy-K2 and Liaoning Province Rehabilitation Center from December 2013 to December 4014 and were randomly divided into two groups, experimental group(acupuncture & five-element-music therapy)and control group(taking mirtazapine). 30 patients in each group were treated for a period of 8 weeks respectively.Treatment principle : Clear the main and collateral channels { meridians} and regulate the qi dynamics. The experimental group { needle music combined group} were treated with acupuncture combined with five line music therapy. The main acupoints were danzhong, neiguan, shenmen, yintang, baihui, taichong, sanyinjiao, sishencong, etc. Supplementary points were: in depression reticent add naohu, yamen; in isomnia forgetfullness add shenmen; in profuse dreaming and dizziness add shenshu, taixi; in reverse flow of qi add gongsun, lieque. Patients when retaining the needle are correspodingly treated with five line of music therapy, both once a day. The western medicine group were given mirtazapine 30 mg/day, no dose adjustment was done.Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) and TESS side effect scale was used to evaluate the curative effect and follow-up results. ResultAfter medical statistical software processing, no statistical significance between the two groups of gender, age, course of dz., family history, incidence of dz. and syndrome differentiation pattern in TCM {P>0·05} was marked, thus the differences betqeen the two groups were comparable. After 8 weeks treatment, the scores of HAMD in the experimental group and the control group were all apparently declined(P<0.01),the short-term curative effect has no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05),but the long-term curative effect in experimental group is superior to simple western medicine group(P<0.01),with few side effects and low recurrence rate in experimental group. ConclusionAcupuncture combined with five-element-music therapy and oral Mirtazapine both have curative effect in Depression with Liver Qi Stagnation. But on the whole, the experimental group has advantages of few side effects, low recurrence rate, simple and economical, hence to be popularized.
