On The Study Of The Transitivity And Relative Issues In Modern Chinese

In this paper,we take the verb's transitivity of modern Chinese as research object.On the basis of the re-definition of transitivity,this papr divides Chinese verbs into four classes,and meanwhile makes a thorough investigation on the four classes.This paper also discusses the universal characteristics and individual distinctions of Chinese verbs' transitivity from the perspective of linguistic typology.Based on the distinction between verb's transitivity and sentence's transitivity,the interactions between verb's transitivity and sentence pattern's transitivity is also investigated.According to the research of this paper,the transitivity of Chinese vbers will be re-recognized and some controversial problems on the transitivity of Chinese verbs will be solved.Firstly,under the guidance of cognitive-functional linguistic theory,the paper gives a new definition on the verb's transitivity from the perspective of form and meaning,and then we divide the verbs into four classes accordingly: intransitive verb,ergative verb,transitive verb and quasi-transitive verb.Secondly,we take a thorough and systematic exploration on Chinese verb's transitivity.On the basis of the introduction of research results of linguistic typology on transitivity,we find out the universal characteristics and individual distinctions of Chinese verb's transitivity.Finally,this paper distinguishes verb's transitivity and sentence's transitivity,and meanwhile make a simple investigation on the interation between these two kinds of transitivity.Though the comparison with previous studies,the creative points in this paper are:(1)Re-classification on Chinese verbs is made according to transitivity;(2)The inclusive model about the relation between intransitive verb and transitive verb in Chinese is put forward in this paper;(3)The universal characteristics and individual distinctions of Chinese verb's transitivity are found out in this paper;(4)The paper makes a clear distinction between verb's transitivity and sentence's transitivity.
