In this paper,"Outline of Chinese words and Chinese characters level"(Economic Science Press,2001 Edition)in this "Outline",level of Chinese characters are listed as the research objective,dependency theory is based on the form and meaning of Chinese characters.Students from five different Universities in Xi'an City answered questions from a questionnaire,combined with the author's own experience of learning Chinese characters,served as the basis for this research.Analysis of students exists in the acquisition process of Chinese characters,trying to find a scientific and reasonable guide to learn and master the ways and methods of Chinese characters by foreign students.This paper is divided into five parts.The introduction mainly describes the background and purpose of the study,the current research status of this topic,and the research methods of this paper.The first chapter reviews the theories of the analysis of the structure of Chinese characters,including the traditional "six book" theories,the "four body two uses" of Mr.Qing Dynasty Dai Zhen,the modern scholar Mr.Tang Lan's "three books",the contemporary scholar Mr.Su Peicheng's "new six books",the comprehensive views and the characteristics of the modern Chinese character components,in the "outline of the Chinese character" These Chinese characters are divided into three categories:ideographics,phonograms,and marked characters.Statistical results showed that ideographic characters accounted is 20.77%of the total number of words,phonograms accounted is 75.9%of the total number of words,and the numbers of markers accounted is 3.96%total number of words.Obviously,the phonograms characters are the mainstream of modern Chinese characters.The second chapter deals with the relationship between the ancient and modern Chinese characters listed in the previous chapters.According to Mr.Luo Wei dong theories,the ancient and modern Chinese characters semantic relations are six levels.(1)the relationship of form and meaning exists all the time;(2)the relationship between form and meaning exists in a certain period of Chinese character development,but in modern Chinese characters it lost the ancient meaning;(3)the form and meaning connection in the development of Chinese characters,from ancient to modern,appeared in conformity with the phenomenon of disconnection and return;(4)there is no form and meaning connection at the beginning of the creation of Chinese characters;(5)the relationship of form and meaning interlaced;(6)there is no relation between form and meaning.Hope these explanations of the differences between ancient and modern Chinese characters can contributes the easiest methods and ways to grasp Chinese characters acquire by foreign students.The third chapter is based on questionnaire form for foreign students,from the objective options and the subjective answers,the difficulties foreign students encounter during acquisition of Ideo-graphic characters,Phono-gram characters,mark characters and then analyzed the reasons of these difficulties.This paper also summarizes the types of errors in acquisition of Chinese characters by foreign students,and analyzes the reasons leading to these errors.In the fourth chapter,according to the errors situation pointed out in the third chapter,the related suggestions and methods of acquire Chinese characters.The chapter also suggests that students should be based on the basic relationship between Chinese language and Chinese characters,make full use of the characteristics of Chinese characters to learn and master Chinese characters,and adopt it literacy method of motivation to improve the learning efficiency of Chinese characters.The specific methods of acquisition include structural analysis,word origin inference,and words connection and so on.
