After decades of fighting, the Communist Party of China gradually ushered the dawn of victory in the early of 1949.It is more difficult to govern a country than to come into power. How to establish the effective rule to the whole country is the priority of the CPC besides the ongoing war.In order to comprehensively grasp the political power and keep the class enemies out of the new government, the CPC make a strategic decision which is sending southbound cadres from the north China to the new liberated areas in the south. The object of this thesis—the Southbound Work Regiment of the fouth field army is the main forces to take over the south-middle China. Most of them are recruited from the colleges and high schools in Peking and Tianjing. There is only half a year for them to get ready for their great changes from young intellectual to revolutionary cadre.During the half a year, they are trained theoretically and technically to be fit for the new job. After that, the Sounthbound Work Regiment go to the south China and make great contribution to the cities' s takeover?the consolidation of the regime and the local economic development. In addition, they also change the local cadre pattern and impact the new liberated areas at all fields.Directed by the historical materialism of Maxism, the thesis will use the related archives?documents ?memoirs?diaries?local chronicles and newspapers as main resources, and refer to predecessors' research findings, restore the Southbound Work Regiment's emerging?training?the process of heading to the south and their activities in Guang Zhou in the 1950 s,then conclude the Southbound Spirit based on the events above. The thesis is made up of three parts, the main content is:Part one is introduction, including the significance of the study, the related research status at home and abroad?research methods?the key points and difficulties of the thesis.Part two is the body of the thesis, contains five chapters.Chapter one has three sections.Section one is about the preparation for the Southbound Work Regiment's recruitment, including some documents released by the CPC which is about the southbound cadre.Section two is the details about the Southbound Work Regiment's recruitment, such as the date and the number of the recruitment, the leading organization of the Southbound Work Regiment and its structure. The last section of this chapter is about the training and the hard course of heading to the south.Chapter two focus on the distribution of the Southbound Work Regiment and other southbound cadres in Guang Zhou and the following city take-over affairs. Most southbound cadres occupied the main leading positions in Guang Zhou, which means the CPC is more trustful to them than the local cadres. The southbound cadres take over the culture and finance system and many other units, from these work they get not only experiences but also lessons, which promote their abilitiy to deal with the following harder work.Chapter three states the activities of the Southbound Work Regiment in Guang Zhou in the 1950 s.The southbound cadres took part in almost all the important historical events at that time, especially the land reform and the suppression of counterrevolutionaries.Through these events, the southbound cadres became more experienced and matured. As the land reform and the suppression of counterrevolutionaries finished successfully, the economy?industry?education and social order of Guang Zhou gets well gradually, the population is also growing little by little, which lay the foundation for the following large-scale economic construction. From a cultural perspective,Chapter four discusses the function of the Southbound Work Regiment on the culture exchange between the south and the north. The first section of this Chapter introduce the conception and features of Guang Dong local culture.Section two is about the cultural differences between the south and the north, including the climate?diet?language and other aspects and the southbound cadres adjust themselves to adapt to the differences. The last section expounds the devotion of the southbound cadres to the cultural exchange between the south and the north. The southbound cadres bring the party's culture and the folk culture of the north to the new liberated areas, which make the local culture more abundant. The key point of Chapter five is the contribution of the southbound cadres and their influence on Guang Dong's cadre pattern. The large number of the southbound cadres come to the south China, not only consolidate the new-born political power immediately, but also give a deep effect on the local cadre's pattern. Before the southbound cadres come to Guang Dong,Guang Dong's cadre mainly consist of the local people, but after the southbound cadres' arrival, they occupy the main leading positions, and the local cadres become their subordinate. This change have a large impact on the local development of politics?economy?culture and other aspects. The last part of this thesis is conclusion, which gives a summary of the whole paper. Then point out the untouched fields on the southbound cadre and explain the research direction in the future.
