Explanations On Words And Phrases Of Yin Dynasty Oracle Bones

The interpretation of Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Yin Ruins is a systematic project with huge contents.It is of great significance to understand and master the characters and words in Shang Dynasty systematically and comprehensively.On the basis of making full use of the existing oracle bone materials and drawing on the existing research results,The related characters and corpora are exhaustively arranged and analyzed.At the same time,we should pay attention to the relationship between oracle bones and oracle inscriptions,as well as oracle bone inscriptions and handed down documents.A renewed job of combing the character items of the oracle-bone inscriptions in Yin Ruins is carried out,combined with the latest materials.Words' interpretation is the basis of all oracle-bone research work,especially for oracle word arrangement.Through careful verification of related rubbings and comprehensive analysis of the examples,this dissertation collate 3655 items out of the inscriptions on oracle bones of Yin Ruins.Among them,there are 2600 subordinate words,942 copying and writing,and 113 doubtful words.Some are overlapped in those of both Compilation of the Inscriptions on the Oracle Bones in Yin Ruins and Character Compilation of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions,while some others are separated.At the same time,104 new items are added on the basis of both the old and new materials.A comprehensive analysis and study of the related language materials is carried out with the rearranged character items as the command.In the layout of the items,they are classified into the corresponding radicals according to the natural classification.The establishment of radicals is mainly referred to Compilation of the Inscriptions on the Oracle Bones in Yin Ruins and Character Compilation of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions,but some changes are made when necessary.All quoted examples are carefully checked for raw materials so as to avoid the mistake in supporting erroneous views with wrong materials.To check the raw materials from three aspects: first step is to check the description of the sameinscriptions on the same oracle bones in the different cataloguing books and choose the best;second step is to check the same rubbings in a book and different cataloguing books to avoid the repeated statistics and use of the related language materials;the third step is to check whether the quoted materials produce overlapping results,and if the overlapping results do not help to support new view,they will no longer be cited.This paper strive to refine the analysis of related language materials.We combine the research results of "two systems" and related groups with the study of glyph and words.Pay attention to the connection and difference between different groups of Oracle.For example,the writing of the �?� in the Bin and Li groups is � �,and in the He and Wuming groups is � �;when it comes to expressing the meaning of "harvest",the north-village system usually used �?�,and the south-village system usually used �?�.In addition,this paper emphasizes the use of quantitative analysis to sort out and analyze related corpora.After the collation of more than 200 cases of�someone ? some ?�,it discovers that the verb �?� has omitted the names of the objects.And �?� is used as the meaning of "giving" and "delivery".Recombing the character items on the oracle bones of Yin Ruins and comprehensively and systematically collating the elated words and expressions are the two major tasks throughout this dissertation.At the same time,a large number of new ideas have been put forward on some specific issues.In terms of interpretation of words and expressions,��is interpreted as��,��as�?�,and the family name in Shang Dynasty��as�(?)�etc.In terms of meaning interpretation,�?�is interpreted as�?�,�?�as�?�,�??+?�as�the road to a certain place�.And a summary is obtained that in Yu sacrifices for the birth away from disasters,the sacrifice object generally is humanized God,not natural gods and so on.
