Overcoming Cultural Barriers To Russian Translation Of Mo Yan's Novels From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

In 1999,Jef Verschueren put forward the adaptability of language in his book ‘Understanding Pragmatics',which indicated that Verschueren's theory of adaptation was born.The adaptation theory provides a new perspective for translation theory research.As a kind of communicative behavior,translation is actually a process of selection and adaptation.The four research perspectives of the adaptation theory put forward by Verschueren are contextual correlates of adaptability,structural objects of adaptability,and dynamics of adaptability and salience of the adaptation processes.These research perspectives are also the four aspects of making choice in translation.In brief,translators need to dynamically adapt to different contextual correlates(namely different physical world,social world and mental world)on a macro level and different language structures(namely code and style,language construction components and discourse structure)on a micro level.The influence of Mo Yan's winning of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012 has not faded,and the study of the Russian translation of his literary works still has very important practical significance.Combined with China's "culture going out" strategy,it is also of great significance to carry out research on overcoming cultural barriers in Russian translations of Chinese classic literary works.The translation that satisfies the requirement of going out effectively should not only consider the translation of the text itself,but also consider the extent to which the translation is accepted by the target language readers.Chinese culture can really go out only if the majority of the target language readers accept the culture in Chinese literature.This dissertation aims to study and analyze the cultural barriers in the Russian translation of Chinese classic literary works and the ways to overcome them based on the theory of adaptation of Verschueren and the Russian translation of Mo Yan's works.The dissertation is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction part mainly includes the cultural translation of Chinese cultural factors interpretation and an overview of the adaptation theory,as well as the dissertation's innovations,research methods,and dissertation content.The body part is divided into three parts.Chapter 1: Relevant theoretical issues of Verschueren's adaptation theory.The first chapter focuses on "what is the theory of adaptation" and "the relationship between translation and adaptation",this dissertation elaborates the definition of Verschueren's theory of adaptation and the translation behavior from the perspective of the theory of adaptation.Chapter 2: Cultural barriers in the translation of Chinese and Russian literature.The second chapter mainly elaborates the causes of cultural barriers in the translation of Chinese and Russian literature,and discusses the cultural differences between Russian and Chinese from the perspective of language and culture.Chapter 3: Overcoming the cultural barrier in Russian translation of mo yan's works from the perspective of adaptation theory.The last chapter elaborates the translation principles of cultural factors and the ways to overcome cultural barriers from the perspective of adaptation theory,and makes a detailed example analysis based on the Russian translation of Mo Yan's representative work "Red Sorghum Clan".The conclusion part is a summary of the content of this dissertation,that is,a summary and induction of the overcoming of cultural barriers in the Russian translation of Mo Yan's works from the perspective of adaptation theory,and a conclusion and the general direction of the following research are drawn.
