The Research On Intercultural Adaptation Of Russian Students In China

Because of the globalization process and the tremendous growth of economy,China is becoming more and more attractive for students from different countries,who are eager to study the Chinese language or to get a degree in many sciences.However,foreign students in China have to face various obstacles,including the language obstacle and problems,connected with adjustment to a new culture,therefore there are a lot of researchers,who are involved in studying cross-cultural adaptation problems of foreign students in China.Cross-cultural adaptation is a very complicated phenomenon,because it is influenced by many factors,such as psychological factors,cross-cultural sensitivity scale and others.Students,coming from Russia have to face different problems,while adapting to a new culture.The difference between Chinese and Russian cultures,national mentalities cause the real problem for Russian students in the process of adaptation.Alongside the development of strategic partnership between China and Russia and their cooperation in different spheres,the number of Russian students is increasing every year,so the problem of adaptation of Russian students in China has become a very hot issue.But most of studies pay more attention on the cross-cultural adaptation problems of students from America,Europe,Korea or South East Asia,although Russian students in China also have to encounter many obstacles,which seem to be inevitable in the cross-cultural adaptation.The main purpose of this study is to analyse the problems,connected with adaptation of Russian students in China and make some suggestions.We hope that this research will help Russian students adapt more quickly to a new culture environment.This study focuses on the Russian students coming to China.At first,the literature review and related theories of intercultural adaptation are given in the introduction.The main content of the first chapter are research design and implementation.The purpose of this research is to analyse the adaptation of Russian students in China from six dimensions(cross-cultural sensitivity scale,social and cultural adaptation,psychological adaptation,communication adaptation,academic adaptation and life satisfaction scale).The second chapter introduces the overall situation of intercultural adaptation and cross-cultural sensitivity scale of Russian students studying in China.The third chapter is focused on analysing the influence of individual factors on intercultural sensitivity scale and intercultural adaptation of Russian students.The fourth chapter includes research findings and suggestions made by the author.
