Studies On The Significances Of The Communist Party Building And Value Education Among College And University Students

With the deepening of globalization,ideological and cultural collisions as well as value conflicts inevitably arise among different countries,regions and ethical groups.On one hand,globalization brings a deadly shock to traditional value monism,not only promoting the emancipation and opening of people's mind,but also contributing to people's development in a free and all-around way as well as to the improvement of human society.On the other hand,while diminishing traditional value monism,globalization gives rise to value pluralism.The contact and exchange among multi-values give rise to various complicated conflicts.In such an era and a world full of pluralistic values how do college and university students choose and define their values? What measures should colleges and universities take to cultivate students' positive values?These issues are of great importance and worth in-depth studies.So far great achievements have been made in value education among college and university students,and many teaching experiences have been accumulated.The core socialist values "Prosperity,Democracy,Civility,Harmony,Freedom,Equality,Justice,Rule of Law,Patriotism,Dedication,Integrity and Friendship" have won the support of the people and become the guideline for college and university students' growth and social development.However,it is undeniable that there still exist some problems such as the lack of diversity in teaching approaches,the inflexibility of teaching methods and the vagueness and generality of teaching contents.These shortcomings ultimately lead to the problems that some college and university students just recite these values and it's difficult for them to internalize them in their minds and practice them through living examples or rigorous logic.Therefore,the important mission for the communist party building work and ideological and political education is to innovate the value education among college and university students and to guide them to set up and choose right values in an era of value pluralism.Based on an exhaustive review of the communist party building work under "The Party Flag Oriented Project" conducted in Huazhong University of Science and Technology since 2007,this dissertation tends to systematically summarize its effects andexperiences,and build the theory,methods,principles and promotional values under the guidance of the general theories and principles of communist party building in colleges and universities."The Party Flag Oriented Project" contains pluralistic values: the Marxism view of political values including the Marxism view of freedom,democracy and human rights;sound social values such as competition and cooperation,equality and justice,and inheritance and innovation;proper moral values concerning social morals,work ethic,family and personal virtues;positive outlook on life value regarding the unity of self improvement and sacrifice for society,individual efforts and respect for rules,and self adjustment and coordination of environment.Therefore,"The Party Flag Oriented Project",which is the vital means and content for guiding and cultivating students' values,has become an important carrier for Huazhong University of Science and Technology to implement "Studies on the Theoretical and Practical Issues of Party Building" issued by the central government,strengthen and improve students' ideological and political education under the new situation."The Party Flag Oriented Project" includes three themes.First,"Eager for the Party",which means imparting basic knowledge about the Communist Party of China to freshmen,deepening their understanding of the Communist Party,boosting the self-confidence of socialist road,theories,systems and culture,and firmly embracing the core values of socialism.Second,"The Party Flag in My Heart",which means guiding and organizing the communist party branches and members of the lower classmen,enhancing their sense of the party spirit and social responsibility.Third,"I Add luster to the Party Flag",which refers to the activity of "Special Party Day" held for upperclassmen,aiming at helping student party members to keep their promises,giving full play to the party members' exemplary role and improving their understanding of the party spirit.Practices show that "The Party Flag Oriented Project" has played a pivotal role in guiding and cultivating students' values by strengthening the structure and function of students' party branch in colleges and universities,innovating the organization system,activity form,and development system for student party members,which enables them to improve and strengthen the "consciousnesses of the ideology,the whole,the core and the line",and gives full play to the leading role played by college and university students inmoral value guidance.To sum up,"The Party Flag Oriented Project" conducted in Huazhong University of Science and Technology has precisely grasped the two objective laws: laws of social development and laws of students' growth.Based on Marxism it guides students to fully understand the history of CCPC,the history of P.R.China,the history of Reform and Opening,the history of socialist development,and the communist party guidelines and policies,and fully master the party principles and rules of party members' behavior stipulated in the party constitution.A wide range of practical activities such as "The"Eager for the Party","The Party Flag in My Heart" and "I Add Luster to the Party Flag"have increased the number of undergraduate communist party members and cultivated their party spirit,which will make colleges and universities become the main position to foster outstanding communist party talents."The Party Flag Oriented Project" conducted in Huazhong University of Science and Technology has a fairly complete operation system and guarantee mechanism,which involves organizing a leadership team for student party building,promoting the league building by the communist party building,establishing the party membership training system and the secondment system,and setting up the target-oriented responsibility system and strict evaluation system.During this process,resources are rationally distributed and the function of the system is brought into full play,the initiatives from all sides have been fully mobilized and student party building has yielded good results.Thus,it is worth being widely promoted.
