Economic Analysis Of Chinese Citizens' Endowment Pattern Selection

The combined effect of longer life expectancy and lower fertility has pushed forward the aging process of China's population,which has brought challenges to China in its developing period,and the pension problems caused by this have become increasingly prominent in social life.The elderly in China are undoubtedly facing more serious risks in the context of increasingly weakened family functions and increasingly difficult provision of support for the aged by family members(especially children).In such a situation,it becomes a coping strategy to focus on the supporting power of social networks outside the home.Based on the perspective of social network,this paper discusses the relationship between residents' social network and endowment pattern,so as to provide a new perspective for improving the quality of life of the elderly,improving the health level of the elderly,and actively coping with the aging of the population.This paper also investigates the influence of Internet,a new social network,on the choice of endowment pattern.Finally,this paper is concerned about the impact of different endowment patterns on the welfare status of the elderly.The main conclusions can be summarized in the following four aspects:First,at present,most of Chinese residents choose the pattern of supporting their children,which indicates that the children are still the main undertakers of the old-age responsibility.Second,the size of social network has a positive influence on the self-support pattern and the child-support pattern,while the size of social network has a negative influence on the government-support pattern.Neighbors are more supportive of older people's lives than friends.The influence of social network on the choice of endowment patterns varies greatly with gender,age,education level,residence status and urban and rural nature.Third,the use of the Internet has a significant negative impact on residents'choice of their child-support pattern;The use of the Internet has a significant positive impact on residents' choice of government-support pattern.From urban and rural residents as a whole,the use of the Internet for their endowment patterns no significant influence,but on the urban and rural samples after inspection,found that the use of the Internet has no effect on urban communities themselves endowment pattern still,but for the rural population,the use of the Internet significantly improved its tend to rely on self-support pattern.Fourth,no matter using subjective well-being or using emotional state or health state as the explained variable,the group choosing child-support pattern or their self-support pattern is significantly better than the group choosing government-support pattern in terms of happiness experience,emotional state and health state.This also reflects that the current endowment provided by the government is less effective than other endowment patterns,so it is imperative to reform the endowment patterns in China and carry out the practice of diversification.The innovation of this paper mainly includes the following three aspectsFirst,this study provides new research ideas and methods for solving old-age care problems,and provides some targeted suggestions for the formulation of relevant old-age policy.It is of supplementary significance to the current research on aging and old-age care in China.Second,with the rapid development of information technology,the use of the Internet among the elderly is also increasing rapidly.This paper investigates whether the use of the Internet,a new form of social contact,will affect the choice of endowment patterns,filling in the gaps in relevant research.Thirdly,when investigating the influence of social network on the selection of endowment patterns,we are faced with severe endogeneity interference.This paper adopts instrumental variable method to solve the endogeneity problem,which is an innovation in the research method of this paper.
