Currently, the aging of population has become a worldwide difficulty and causedwidespread concern in each country. China is a populous country. Accompanied by therapid socio-economic development, the average life expectancy of the population isincreasing especially from the late1970s, with the long-term implementation of the familyplanning policy, the family structure has generally miniaturized and the problem of agingpopulation in our country has particularly highlighted. As the political and cultural centerof China, Beijing has become an aging population city as early as in1990, nine yearsearlier than the nation. Chaoyang District has the largest elderly population above sixtyyear-old among16districts in Beijing, the heavy burden of aging population has increasedthe importance and urgency of social endowment service.According to this situation, it is important to explore ways to meet elderly people’s diverseservice needs and accelerate the improvement of social service system. Social endowmentservice is provided to help elderly people with their life care, medical care and spiritualcomfort through the government and society’s policy and resources investment. Based onthe background of aging population, this paper regards social endowment service asresearch topic and uses the establishment and development process of social endowmentservice in Beijing as basis. The key part of this paper is a survey among elderly people inM Community in Chaoyang District, which is a typical elderly community in Beijing,focusing on the status and needs of social endowment service in order to find acomprehensive understanding about its implementation effect. Then the paper analyzes theproblems of social endowment service so as to find effectiveness and feasible solutions toimprove the social endowment service in Beijing Chaoyang District and promote theold-age benefit industry for further development.
