Based on discussing the connection between college students experience and the undergraduate education quality from theoretical and practical aspects,the dissertation combed the rising background,theoretical basis and current situation of college students experience survey abroad,and displayed the whole process and result analysis of the survey taking SERU as a case.Subsequently,combining with the real reflection on the quality of undergraduate education in our country,this paper analyzed the necessity and urgency of college students experience survey and emphatically discussed undergraduate education quality improvement strategy based on students' experience.The first chapter mainly discussed the relationship between the college students experience survey and undergraduate education quality improvement.First of all,on the basis of the research on higher education quality connotation,the paper revealed that the essence of higher education quality is the students' learning and development from the perspectives of the philosophy of education,university function change,stakeholders and the development of university.Combined with a series of reports about "student learning" released by the American student affairs professional groups,ACPA(American College Personnel Association)and NASPA(National Association of Student Personnel Administrators),it interpreted the connotation changes of "student learning and development" under the contemporary background.Secondly,based on analyzing the connotation of college students experience,this chapter discussed the impact of the student experience on student learning and development and the indicator of student learning and development.Finally,the chapter studied the value of the undergraduate student experience survey,which lies in promoting the regression of the body of undergraduate education quality,concerning about the”process”,penetrating into "micro",exploring effective education practice standards,assisting in diagnosing and improving the education quality,etc..In the second chapter the background and theoretical basis of college students experience survey was explored.For one thing,the paper illustrated how the college students experience survey arose in the United States from the perspectives of the formation of value-added quality,higher education popularization development,undergraduate education quality crisis,social accountability pressure,and etc.For another,the supporting theories were introduced systematically,such as humanism education theory,constructivism learning theory,student development theory and college impact theory from theoretical foundation,core concern and the survey dimension design.The third chapter mainly reviewed and discussed the development history and current situation of the American college students experience survey.By analyzing all the items in the survey,this paper generalized the following common features of such investigation:questionnaire design based on a solid education scientific research theory,questionnaire indicators with highly similarity and unique characteristic,the questionnaire interrelated supporting which was beneficial to the depth of data analysis,survey management and operation mechanism perfection,etc.Subsequently,the chapter also discussed the domain in which the results of college student experience survey may be applied,and the problems.The fourth chapter conducted a comparative empirical research on undergraduate student experience between Nanjing University and Berkeley University by applying questionnaire method.The part showed the process,result and value of college students experience survey systematically and provided the overall description of student experience and compared the differences between the two universities from the perspectives of studying participation,time distribution,self-evaluation,campus atmosphere,overall satisfaction and sense of belonging.Furthermore,it explored the reasons for these differences in depth.The fifth chapter clarified the current situation of undergraduate education quality assurance and promotion in our country.It introduced a series of measures taken by our government and university to improve the undergraduate education quality.Some puzzles in quality promotion were probed into,which includes the vague understanding of the essence of "quality" and the lack of attention to "core factors" of quality,lack of "underlying design" with the connection of the "top-level design",excessive administration of undergraduate education quality management and lack of the cultivation of quality culture,etc.To solve these problems and puzzles,it justified the necessity of improving undergraduate education quality from the perspective of student learning and development.The last chapter studied how to improve the undergraduate education quality.In the ideological sphere,universities should be oriented to "learning" rather than to"teaching",to "process" and "results" rather than to "input".In practice,the systematic planning should be conducted to universities from the perspective of student learning and development.The universities were suggested to center on the "core learning outcomes" of students and provide students with a rich campus experience in order to drive students learning.An auditing and supporting system of university need be established to propel the learning-oriented reform at universities and thus improve the quality of undergraduate education.
