The Paper focus on the Social Faculty Origin aims to answer the following three questions.First,who has become a faculty in china? Which social class were they born in?Second,the impact of social class origin on they choose to be a faculty,and the development of academic profession.Finally,what is the role of academic profession in faclty's social mobility? This paper constructed the theoretical framework under the Social mobility theory?Capital transformation theory and Accumulated advantage theory.This research bases on “2014 Faculty Survey”,which gathering information from questionnaires taken from 5186 faculty of 88 different types of universities in the 13 provins of china,as well as the interview materials taken from 38 teachers.This research not only pays attention to the collection of empirical evidences,but also to the excavation of theoretical meaning of experience materials.New discoveries have been brought in the research:First of all,faculty belongs to the middle class,which is in the secondary position.The academic profession make a lot of people who were born in lower strata realized the class' s upward mobility,and the proportion from lower strata increased.Nearly seventy percent of faculty from the villages and towns,they parents maily from the farmers?the common enterprises and employees or workers,which are poor?culture deprivation and short of social capital.Secondly,the influence of the social class origin on university teachers mainly includes the following three aspects.First,the background of the class influences the academic starting point of high-end talents.The social class origin has the greatest influence on the types of undergraduate institutions.The higher the social class background,the higher the proportion of undergraduates studying in the “985 Project” universities.Second,the class background influences the strategies in choosing a career and the career preferences.Due to the lack ing of family cultural capital,people of lower social class are more dependent on the cultural capital acquired by school education,which is more likely to produce academic preferences and academic career preferences.Social class background affects the inaugural city and school types,teachers from high social class have more chance to get a better city or university,they are more likely to be lived in capital cities with developed economies and culture,and they are more likely to be worked in the "985 project" colleges,which have higher reputation,better academic environment and development platform.Research on the rural class background teachers' career choice process shows that,both “college entrance examination” and “get a doctor's degree” are important life opportunities.After they have successfully completed the academic marathon,cultural capital is they only can rely on resources to improve the status of class.The position and habits of the small-scale peasants who pursue security and stability in the career selection process have not only made it possible to identify academic careers as their ideal choice.Moreover,in the choice of choosing the colleges and cities,personal ideals can not be saved from the real needs of earning a living,personal interests and ultimately succumb to the interests of the family,they are more likely to attract the university's talent incentives and change the original intention.Third,the background of the class is a factor that affects the orientation,capacity building and academic inclination of university teachers.(1)Entry and employment adaptation is a challenge for all teachers.The influence of the class origin is on the handling of interpersonal relationships.Teachers from the peasant class need to adjust the way of communication under the influence of rural etiquette culture.(2)The most important factor affecting the construction of academic ability of faculty is the level of professionalism and effort of the individual.Although the influence of the class background is weak,and the influence of the class origin is further weakened with the increase of the time of entry,its influence is significant and need to be taken seriously.A good starting point for life is an important preparation for university teachers to achieve career development,especially from the family's cultural capital.This “advantage accumulation” is more likely to promote their academic career development.(3)As an important background for the growth of high-end talents,we cannot ignore its impact on research interest in university teachers and the accumulation of academic capital.The class origin is still an important background for the growth of academic man,and it is also an important background for its academic research.It profoundly affects a scholar's research interests and academic pursuits.Finally,the academic profession is the ladder of high-end academic talents who born from the lower strata achieved the upward mobility.On the one hand,it helps a large number of people to change their destiny,and on the other hand,it raises some problems.(1)As the first university student in the family,because of their excellent academic achievements and the success of their academic career,the university teachers born into peasant class have found the most successful way to get rid of doing physical labor and to far from rural life.However,they still face another test.The pressure to make his family better and to feedback their parents is a problem at the beginning of their career.(2)When the proportion of the middle and lower strata origin is too large,the shortcomings and structural defect of teacher's cultural capital and knowledge structure limit the deepening and extension of academic research.(3)When the academic profession undertakes too many tasks in Social class mobility,this shows that the academic profession cannot attract high-end talents with diverse backgrounds.This is a problem that we need to deeper reflection and positively improve.
