Research On The Promoting Status Upgrading Path Of Liaoning Equipment Manufacturing Industry In The Global Value Chain

With the deepening process of economic globalization,great changes are taking place in the mode of International division of labor which reflects the integration and utilization of resources in the world.The international division of labor has been gradually deepened by inter-industry specialization,within-industry and intra-product specialization.Transnational capital organizes economic across the globe in order to maximize profits.Every country all actively embed domestic intra-product specialization into GVC networks so as to develop the domestic economy and gain higher value-added.Therefore,the global value chains specialization emerges as the times require.Since reform and opening-up,China's equipment manufacturing industry,relying on the comparative advantages of labor and resources,has undertaken a large number of labor-intensive production links with the developed countries,and quickly integrated into the global value chains specialization.The transnational corporations in developed countries have added valued sectors,and utilize protection of intellectual property rights and technology export controls and other measures to hinder China's equipment manufacturing industry upgrading in the GVC.Therefore,China's equipment manufacturing industry can only stick in the lowly value-added global value chain,like processing and assembly in the GVC,and the GVC benefit allocation continues to fester which will deteriorate into a dilemma of “ow-end locked” and “immiserizing growth”.Especially Liaoning as an important national equipment manufacturing industry and production base,the equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning is under a series of severe tests including the lack of effective demand,and slow speed in growth which are affected by depth changes in domestic and international economic situation.Limited by capital accumulation and technological innovation capacity,when participating in the international vertical specialization,the processing and manufacturing sectors are locked in the low value-added chain,which which not only hinder the transformation and upgrading of equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning,and also damage resources and environmental.Therefore,Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry urgently needs to upgrade its position in the global value chains specialization.Based on the measure of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC,this thesis analyzes the influenced factors trapped in the low-locked,studies the theoretical approaches and realistic approaches to realize the upgrading of the GVC,and also puts forward to the countermeasures and suggestions to achieve the rising of global value chains in Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry.These are of great important theoretical and practical significance for speeding up the transformation and upgrading of the equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning and achieving a new round of revitalization and development of the old industrial base.This paper is divided into seven chapters,the main research questions are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,and it mainly studies the research background,the theoretical significance and practical significance,the domestic and foreign research references,main research content and framework,research methods,innovation and deficiencies.The second chapter is the theoretical foundation of the Promoting Status Upgrading Path of liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC.Firstly,this chapter discusses the evolution process of GVC theory,Value chain?Global commodity chain?Global value chain.Secondly,this chapter introduces the basic theories about the formation of GVC,including the international division of labor theory,the national competitive advantage theory,the smile curve theory,transaction cost theory and game theory.Thirdly,this chapter introduces the main content of GVC,including the definition of GVC,the driving force of GVC,the governance of GVC,the strategic link of GVC,the upgrading of GVC and the theoretical path of the status upgrading of GVC.Finally,this chapter introduces the related theories of the upgrading of GVC,such as Industrial life cycle theory,the flying-geese model and the dynamic comparative cost theory.The third chapter is the analysis of current situation of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry under the division of GVC.Firstly,this chapter introduces the concept and classification of equipment manufacturing industry,and defines the research scope of equipment manufacturing industry.Secondly,the chapter analyses the current situation of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry from the five aspects,such as development scale,development layout,key industries and enterprises,transformation and upgradingh,the division of GVC.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the status of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC.Firstly,this chapter analyzes the competitiveness of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry,mainly including international comparative analysis based on Porter "diamond model" and domestic comparative analysis based on the SWOT analysis.It shows that the competitiveness of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry needs to be improved.Secondly,this chapter constructs the index system calculating the status of China equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC,and calculates the status of China equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC using the added value export rate and GVC site index.And based on the conclusion of domestic competitiveness analysis,this chapter proves the status of liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC is relatively low,mainly in low value-added processing and assembly aspects.In addition,this chapter discusses five kinds of performance of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry falling into " Low-end Locking " of GVC,including the advanced technology locked,the industrial structure locked,the supply of key components of equipment products locked,the brand and distribution channel locked,the status of Division of labor locked.The fifth chapter is the analysis of the factors affecting the status of liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC.Firstly,qualitative analysis is conducted on the factors that influence the status of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC from the five aspects,such as enterprise,market factors,government factors and foreign direct investment.Secondly,this chapter constructs influence factor model of the status upgrding of GVC.Through empirical analysis,it is concluded that strengthening technical innovation,constructing the independent innovation system,promoting industrial clusteand,accelerating the convergence of producer services and equipment manufacturing producer services will be in favor of the promoting status upgrding of liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC.The sixth chapter is the analysis of cases in the promoting status upgrading path of Domestic and foreign equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC.Firstly,in the case of Japan and South Korea,this chapter analyzes the promoting status upgrading path of Equipment manufacturing of the later-development countries in the GVC.Secondly,in the case of Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces,this chapter analyzes the promoting status upgrading path of Equipment manufacturing of the advanced provinces of China in the GVC.Finally,based on the theoretical path of the status upgrading of GVC,taking SIASUN Robot&Automation Company Limited,Brilliance Automotive Holdings Limited and Shenyang Machine Tool Company Limited as examples,this chapter analyses the path of the status upgrading of GVC.The seventh chapter puts forward the suggestions for promoting status upgrading path of Liaoning equipment manufacturing Industry in the GVC.Firstly,this chapter researches on the promoting status upgrading path of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC.Based on the analysis of the influencing factors and the cases,this chapter puts forward the practical path of the status upgrading of GVC,including high-end development path,intelligent development path,service-oriented development path,cluster development path and export-oriented development path.In addition,this chapter proposes goals and directions of the status upgrading of Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry in the GVC,using "The Belt and Road" strategy to construct the GVC dominated by Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry.Finally,this chapter puts forward the suggestions which specifically include: First,we should strengthen the independent innovation capacity construction and promote Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry to the top industrial chain.Second,from the perspective of “China manufacture 2025”,we aim to promote the rapid development of Liaoning equipment intelligent manufacturing.Third,taking advantage of “Internet Plus” policy,we should speed up the development process of service manufacturing in Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry.Fourth,playing the role of industrial agglomeration,speed up the upgrading of Liaoning equipment industry cluste.The fifth is to seize the “Belt and Road” strategic opportunity to build a leading global value chain.
