Traditional industry refers to the industry which starts early and whose production technology is improving day by day and plays a pillar role in the development of national economy.For a long time,traditional industries have absorbed a large amount of labor force for our country,but the characteristics of resource consumption and low added value are especially obvious.Although it is already the second largest economic country,it is large but not strong.In the existing labor force population structure,the low-skilled labor force accounts for more than half of the total labor force in our country.The traditional industry of our country is under the pressure of competition between enterprises at home and abroad,and the traditional industry is facing new challenges and opportunities for development.How to upgrade the competitiveness and adapt to the development of Chinese economy through industrial upgrading is an urgent problem to be solved by traditional industries.With abundant resource endowment,cheap labor and other factors,our country has created the low cost comparative advantage of economic take-off.Relying on technological progress and system design,it promotes the rapid development of traditional industry and the finalization of traditional industrial structure.However,as the upgrading of traditional industry,it faces the problem of path dependence on technology and system.The self-strengthening and locking effect of path-dependence will drag the upgrading of traditional industry into the quagmire.Traditional industrial upgrading must consider breaking this kind of path-dependence.Although people have realized that there is a serious path dependence problem in the traditional industry upgrading,more researches remain on the concept connotation and formation reasons of path dependence,and some scholars have also studied the category and degree of path dependence.However,the analysis of the factors of path dependence,the role of the relationship and the key links need to be further studied.This study restores the technological and institutional path dependence process of traditional industrial upgrading from a new perspective,explores the influencing factors and mechanism of path dependence,and finds out the key factors and key links that path dependence brings adverse consequences.This will be beneficial to enrich the relevant theoretical system of industrial upgrading and industrial organization,to help the state and government to formulate relevant industrial policies,and to provide effective guidance and theoretical support for the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.The research on the technological and institutional path dependence and its mechanism of traditional industrial upgrading is based on the analysis of the connotation of related concepts,problems,state characteristics and evolution process.Using comparative advantage theory,Porter competition theory,industrial organization theory,path dependence theory and so on,this paper makes a deep analysis of path dependence.With the help of ecological factor theory,the influence factors of traditional industrial upgrading technology and institutional path dependence are elicited,and the conceptual model of the action mechanism of traditional industrial upgrading technology and institutional path dependence is constructed.This paper analyzes the key factors and function relationships of path dependence in the technological and institutional aspects of traditional industrial upgrading through empirical method.The main contents and results are summarized as follows:First of all,focusing on the traditional industrial upgrading,traditional industrial upgrading path and traditional industrial upgrading path dependence and other basic concepts and basic issues,on the basis of a comprehensive and systematic review of the literature related theories,this paper makes a deep analysis of the system path dependence,the state and problems of the technology path dependence in the process of traditional industry upgrading and expounds the important role of the idea on the path dependence.Secondly,the paper analyzes the process of institutional path dependence,technology path dependence and technology-institution interactive path dependence in the process of traditional industrial upgrading.Starting from the similarity between industrial system and ecosystem,with the help of ecological factor theory,the main factor model of industrial organization is constructed.The four dimensions of industrial organization environment,industrial organization resources,industrial organization ability and industrial organization structure affect the traditional industrial upgrading technology and institutional path dependence together,and the dimensions of each factor are subdivided.Thirdly,based on the theory of industrial organization,this paper constructs the mechanism model of traditional industrial upgrading technology and institutional path dependence and puts forward the hypothesis of the relationship between the variables.Combined with the traditional industry background of our country,the research scale of 54 items is determined through group and expert interviews and small sample pre-test.Then the structural equation model is used to analyze 842 sample data,and the path dependence mechanism model of traditional industrial upgrading technology and system is tested empirically,which proves the validity of the model.Finally,on the basis of comprehensive analysis,this paper makes a multi-group analysis according to different industry types,and compares the differences of path dependence of different industry types on traditional industrial upgrading technology and system.The results show that labor-intensive,capital-intensive and technology-intensive industries are different in impact path and action intensity,which provides data support and decision basis for industrial differentiation policy.The following conclusions can be drawn from the overall model analysis: The perfect degree of the industrial organization environment,the promotion of the industrial organization ability and the optimization of the industrial organization structure have a significant effect on the path dependence of the traditional industrial upgrading technology and system.The degree of perfection of industrial organization environment not only has a significant impact on the upgrading of industrial organization ability through the degree of resource endowment of industrial organization,but also has a direct impact on the upgrading of industrial organization ability.It can directly affect the path dependence of traditional industrial upgrading technology and system,and the hypothesis that the natural endowment degree of industrial organization has direct influence on the path dependence of traditional industrial upgrading technology and institution has not passed the test.The degree of resource endowment of industrial organization needs to influence the path dependence of traditional industrial upgrading technology and system indirectly through the upgrading of industrial organization ability or the optimization of industrial organization structure.The following conclusions can be drawn from the multi-group analysis of the model: Different industry types have different influence paths and action intensity on traditional industrial upgrading technology and system.Compared with labor-intensive and technology-intensive industries,capital-intensive industries depend heavily on the degree of environmental improvement of industrial organizations.The perfect degree of industrial organization environment of technology intensive industry and capital intensive industry depends on natural resource endowment obviously.The degree of capital factor endowment of labor-intensive industry and technology-intensive industry is not significant to the enhancement of industrial organization ability,but the degree of capital-intensive capital factor endowment is more significant to the enhancement of industrial organization ability.The improvement of industrial organization ability and the optimization of industrial organization structure have significant effects on the three types of industries.The effects of regional spatial structure optimization on technological path dependence are not significant in different industry types.However,for labor-intensive industries,regional structure optimization has a more significant dependence on institutional path dependence.And for technology-intensive industries,the increase of market structure concentration plays a more significant role in institutional path dependence.
