| In recent years,China’s regional economic development and innovation have shown significant spatial agglomeration characteristics,and the agglomeration degree and regional innovation output in the Eastern Region are higher than those in the Central and Western Regions.The spatial distribution of economic agglomeration and regional innovation revealed a high degree of consistent,economic and innovative activities presented the characteristics of the spatial cluster and "shall",this phenomenon is especially obvious in Yangtze River Delta Region.There seems to be some inherent correlation between agglomeration and regional innovation,which leads to several questions.First,is agglomeration conducive to regional innovation?Second,is there any spatial spillover effect of agglomeration and regional innovation?What is the influence mechanism of agglomeration on regional innovation?These questions are subject to theoretical and empirical tests.The report of 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China also puts forward the goal of promoting regional coordinated development and building an innovation-oriented country.The outline of the national innovation-driven development strategy emphasizes the optimization of regional innovation layout,and the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration Development Plan also proposes the goal of regional collaborative innovation.Obviously,The double synergy of economic development and regional innovation is the realistic requirement of the new period.We can expect in the new era background,the China’s economic activities will continue to focus on space,with the trend of the economic activities space concentration will promote regional innovation,and realize the regional economic development and regional innovative dual synergy,has become major theoretical and practical problems for construction of regional innovation community.Based on the above realistic background,this paper discusses the relationship between agglomeration and regional innovation from spatial perspective.Firstly,analyzed the two-way interactive effect endogenous mechanism between agglomeration and regional innovation,use of exploratory spatial data analysis the agglomeration and spatial distribution characteristics of regional innovation in the Yangtze River Delta.Then based on the data of 152 county-level administrative regions of the Yangtze River Delta from 2000 to 2016,use dynamic panel spatial durbin model,spatial simultaneous equation model,the complex social network analysis test of the relationship between agglomeration and regional innovation and its spatial spillover effects,examines the influence of different industrial coagglomeration on regional innovation for different sectors of industry agglomeration,a single industry agglomeration within the same industry sector,coagglomeration across sectors and within the same industry sector.This paper also analyzes the influence of agglomeration on the spatial distribution of regional innovation and regional innovation network structure.In addition,this paper also investigates the reverse influence of regional innovation on agglomeration,and the bias of sample selection and spatial correlation on empirical results.Based on the theoretical research,the characteristic fact analysis and the empirical research,this paper puts forward the targeted policy suggestions.Theoretical mechanism studies show that agglomeration can promote regional innovation through sharing,matching,knowledge spillover,specialized agglomeration,diversification agglomeration and the externality of Potter industry competition.Agglomeration and regional innovation spatial spillover mainly derived from all kinds of elements from product flow and trade,research institutions and professional media,non face-to-face communication,virtual community and internet,industry associations and regional policy,urban and innovation network.Regional innovation have positive promoting effect on agglomeration through the effect of growth pole,industrial structure and regional function,economic growth pattern,imitation,regional innovation network,knowledge interregional spillover and so on.Empirical research findings:Firstly,agglomeration has significantly promoted the regional innovation,and agglomeration in adjacent areas has also significantly promoted local regional innovation.Regional innovation has a significant spatial spillover effect,that is,innovation in adjacent areas has a positive promoting effect on local innovation.Secondly,the influence of different industries on regional innovation is different,and the influence of industrial agglomeration on different innovation outputs is also different.There are also differences in the promotion of regional innovation by different industrial clusters within the same industry sector.Thirdly,the industrial coagglomeration has a significant effect on regional innovation,and the impact of coagglomeration on regional innovation is more important than that of single industry cluster.Industrial coagglomeration across sectors even more important for the promotion of regional innovation.Fourthly,agglomeration has a positive impact on the spatial distribution of regional innovation output,and agglomeration promotes the spatial concentration of regional innovation output.The regional innovation spatial concentration has significant spatial spillover effect,that is,the innovation output distribution in the adjacent area will have a positive influence on the local innovation output distribution.Fifthly,agglomeration have a significant impact on regional innovation network structure.Agglomeration has significantly promoted the stability of regional innovation network relations,the innovation of the core area of innovation network and the central tendency of the whole network.The connection of regional innovation network and the control of the core cities in the network and the central tendency of innovation network have obvious time correlation and spatial correlation.Sixthly,agglomeration has an important influence on the control,status and asymmetry of the network in the whole innovation network structure.The agglomeration of adjacent areas will promote local innovation output,and the increase of local innovation output will also improve the local control in the innovation network.A single regional innovation to other parts of the innovation control,a single region status in the regional innovation network,and a single region’s influence on the regional innovation network asymmetry are related on time dimension and spatial dimension.Seventhly,regional innovation has a significant reverse impact on agglomeration.Regional innovation is conducive to the improvement of regional economic agglomeration,and innovation in adjacent areas is also conducive to promoting economic agglomeration.Eightly,agglomeration and regional innovation have significant spatial spillover effect and regional interaction,the agglomeration of neighborhood has a significant role in promoting to the local agglomeration,and the innovation of neighborhood also have a significant role in promoting the local innovation.Agglomeration and regional innovation spatial distribution have regional interaction effects,and agglomeration in adjacent areas will also affect the spatial distribution of local innovation.This study has important policy implications for the double synergy of economic agglomeration and regional innovation in the Yangtze River Delta Region and the construction of regional innovation community:Firstly,agglomeration and regional innovation can achieve win-win situation.we should make full use of the spatial agglomeration of economic activities to promote regional innovation output,and use regional innovation to attract new elements to further promote the spatial agglomeration of economic activities.and construct regional innovation investment,risk and revenue-sharing mechanism,such as set up a regional innovation mutual fund.Secondly,We should have the whole thinkingin in the process of building innovation community,and should establish the dual coordination mechanism of economic and industrial development and regional innovation in the Yangtze River Selta Region as soon as possible.Thirdly,we can make full use of regional integration and economic cooperation channels to promote the integration of regional innovation,and build a symbiotic and mutually beneficial development pattern of economic development and regional innovation in the Yangtze River Delta Region. |
