The ecolization of industries relies on the understanding of development patterns and processes of industrial ecosystem.However,industrial system and resource-environment system are inherently heterogeneous and have complex interactions.This research adopted a view of industrial ecology and created the framework to analyze the patterns,processes,and sustainability of industrial ecosystem with tools such as complex network,data mining,GIS,etc.,and conduct empirical research on China’s regional industrial ecosystem.The main results include:Diversity and complexity were used to depict industrial patterns,and material flow and carbon emission for resource and environmental pressure.It was found that high diversity and complexity areas concentrate in the eastern of Hu line,and the metric increase year by year.Domestic extraction and primary production material flows have distinct patterns,and the area with high carbon emission is related to local energy and industrial structure.Four kinds of typical industrial ecosystem and their transitions were identified with clustering and principal component analysis.The analysis of industrial evolution and metabolism revealed: if an industry is closer in the production space to other industries in the same region,it is easier to exist in the future.A probabilistic prediction model of industrial evolution was built based on such rule,which has phases separated by fix points and the diversification process required the density higher than a threshold.For macro level metabolism,LMDI decomposition of China’s industrial carbon emission showed scale effect contributed most emission,structural effect increased emission after 2003,and intensity effect eliminates the emission.The structural effect varies across regions,and economic complexity is negatively related to intensity.At the micro level,it is possible to infer regional metabolic network and industrial symbiosis network,identify critical processes and pressures,and potential industrial symbiosis.The industrial ecolization could follow a four-step procedure: identify the phase of development and development goals by the clustering results;adjust industrial structure via the predictive model of industrial evolution;optimize the regional metabolic structure and promote industrial symbiosis;balance various targets and avoid brutal adjustment,emphasize the resilience of the system.In conclusion,this research conduct systematic assessments of the diversity and complexity patterns of industries and the heterogeneity of resource-environment pressure in China,and identified typical industrial systems;the research established the proximity-based evolutionary analysis method for large-scale and fine-grained industrial ecosystem,and achieved quantitative prediction of industrial structure;and the research established the method to infer regional metabolic structure and industrial symbiosis,which provides tools for supporting the planning of industrial symbiosis and other practices.
