The Research Of The Process Of The Logistics Enterprises’ Business Model Revolution In The Perspective Of The Industry Ecosystem

Logistic industry which is belonging to the third emerging industry, occupies an important role in the national economic development. With the rapid development of Internet economy and electric business, our logistics enterprises have made great progress, but we still have much gap between China and other countries. At the background of the current environment, the enterprises have facing the situation that the profit space is getting much smaller. Just by expanding the scale and introducing the advanced technology, it is difficult to achieve further development. The former business model cannot match the development.so, logistics industry need to upgrade and to evolve the advanced stage. We should search for the new development path and business model and get rid of the single business model in the past, and make full use of the own resources which have much advantages, expand the industry chain of upstream and downstream, try to build a new business model.The article uses the research method of the single case which is called "ShunFeng". It is to explore and comb the process of enterprise business model which is under the perspective of industrial ecosystem, and establish the corresponding research model.By the analysis of the available literature and the enterprise materials, the article refined three dimensions of the business model; they are value proposition, value network, and value realization. According to the three stages of the development of the enterprise, we can explore the process of business model, evolutionary dynamics and evolution process of motion path. At the first stage, the value proposition is to provide single logistics services for the high-end customers. With its own competitive advantage increasingly apparent, and the change of external environment, ShunFeng can rely on the internal resources advantages for cross-border integration to carry out the online and offline services. The evolution at the second stage is expanding industrial chains between upstream and downstream of the logistics business enterprise. The evolution power is that the network and the realization are driving by the proposition. In the second stage, ShunFeng, which is based on the basis of logistics, has already developed the electric business, the online and offline business. Now the process of the realizations is transforming from the logistics distribution service to the diversified services. The evolution power is that the network and the proposition are driving by the realization; at the last stage, the enterprise which is based on the original business are to conduct a comprehensive integration of optimization and to fully develop the financial business. The purpose which is done by the enterprise is to transform the original business to the industrial ecosystem which is covered with logistics, online and offline store, finance. The evolution power is that the realization and the proposition are driving by the network.With the study of the case in detail, we can draw some conclusions below.First, the growth evolution of logistics enterprises is dominated by the development and changes of its all dimensions. The innovation and changes among the proposition, network and realization made the enterprises have some changes in the fields of products/services, partnerships, and profit and the enterprise boundary is widening. Every dimension changes of business model will bring significant changes to the enterprise.Second, Logistics enterprise different development phase, the dimensions of its business model emphasis is different. At the first stage, the value proposition is the most important, and the second is the realization, the last is the network.Third, the enterprise’s growth process is along the direction for the development of the industry ecosystem. In the first stage, ShunFeng only provides the logistics services, with the development of its own resources and ability and the change of external environment, ShunFeng begins to expand upstream and downstream industry chain. And then, it can fully develop financial business to build the industry ecosystem.Last, above all the analysis, we can solve these questions below:Should we make innovations and evolution? Which path should we go along? How can we ensure the evolution should be successful?In this article, the innovations involved in two aspects:first, by combining industrial ecosystem and the business model, we can make some business model evolution process analysis from logistics enterprise.And the second aspect, we can conclude the dynamic matching relations between the enterprise growth stages and the business model of evolution, and the role of each dimension of the business model to the enterprise development.
