Group is the basis of any social or business system and society globalization requires new approaches to team work as cross-cultural diversity has become a reality today for many businesses.This study integrates individual culture-based features and group-level processes under a common umbrella of efficient discussion and effective decision making.This study is organized around cross-level theoretical and practical teamwork analysis for accelerating crosscultural collective mind benefits and ruling out the destructive factors of cultural distance.This study examined relation of decision-making outcome and the participation of cross-cultural variation in decision-making,which factors of culture related to participants are more influential on effectiveness of decision making,whether those cultural factors have impact directly or there is a need of mediation to optimum level,if the mediation is required,which mediating variables are feasible to reach that level.The research considered influence of cultural intelligence,cross-cultural learning interest and cultural distance on decision making with the double mediation of group level parameters,including efficient discussion and innovation,operational commitment and BPM culture.The empirical research,which verified the model,was conducted among culturally diverse decision making teams in different business areas,including sales and marketing,production,oil and gas,construction,healthcare.As predicted,CQ had positive correlation with decision making effectiveness through the mediation of efficient discussion and functional group processes,when cross-cultural learning interest didn?t have same relation.The positive pattern of findings was obtained for the mediation model.Cultural distance affected negatively though not strongly the decision making effectiveness in double mediation,when directly the relation was positive,which indicates the potential of cross-cultural synergy as a product of culture interaction within the group bringing multidimensional perception of any decision making alternate under consideration through complementing their talents,dissimilar demographic characteristics and different cultures,if the contradictions between team members are eliminated.On the basis of the theoretical model and its empirical research within cross-cultural decision-making business teams together with in-depth analysis of inducing and inhibiting factors of mind sourcing techniques such as brainstorming,crowd sourcing and team meeting,this study has yielded a feature-rich generic method,which endeavors holistic approach to mind sourcing techniques and cross-cultural logics to ensure effective decision making.This novel technique of international mind grouping is anticipated to help managers of multinational organizations and international entrepreneurs to design group work productively for facilitation of efficient discussion,synergy,creativity and ultimately effective decision making in crosscultural teams.Application of the technique additionally addresses the cross-cultural team sustainability,the construct which has not yet got due attention in the literature.The study responds the calls for pragmatic cross-cultural sustainability scholarship,expounding the business/company sustainability emanating from team sustainability particularly in cross-cultural environment.The research shows that Cross-Cultural Team Sustainability is achievable considering a range of factors,including cross-cultural competence of the team members,the integration role of a leader and integral goal,efficient team processes of discussion and decision making,using specific cross-cultural mind grouping instruments.
