E-government information systems integration and success factors within county government

Abstract/Summary:
Few studies examine management of the advance stages of e-government services consisting of financial transactions and complex services that integrate with internal information systems; and factors that may contribute to project success. This research examines the advance stage of e-government services that integrate with internal information systems, factors most importance to project managers, and characteristics of the project managers in relationship to successful projects.;Using a web survey questionnaire, 137 participants in this quantitative research were from U.S. counties who have been identified as having implemented e-government integrated services. The study examines legislation and eMortgage standards as enablers to advance stages of e-government services. Results indicate several factors important to successful projects include third-party e-government eRecording software; virtual private networks and internet portals, and the project manager.s leadership style and knowledge. As a result of the findings, recommendations are included for project managers and future researchers.
