Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this quantitative, descriptive, correlational research study was to determine the relationship between a comprehensive teacher induction program and teacher retention rates at the elementary school level. The study was conducted by surveying teachers in Anderson School District Five. Data were examined by using a teacher survey. Binary logistic regression, chi-square tests, and a t-test were used in the study. The data analysis process was aided with the use of Microsoft Excel and SPSS, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, 2000). Association analysis was used to determine if there was a significant association between administrative leaders offering support to new teachers in a new teacher induction program and the retention of new teachers. The results of this study indicate that new teacher induction programs have no correlation with teacher retention rates.
