The New Teacher Induction Policy Research

The enactment of new qualified teacher induction policy is an important issue for discussion in the field of teacher education. It confirms the significance of induction from the point of view of grownup of students and the development of schools. The main idea of the thesis is that establishing standards for induction period according to which induction programs and assessment arrangement are developed will help to enhance teacher's quality. England is a country whose new qualified teacher induction is comparatively well-rounded. In 1999, the new qualified teacher induction policy went into effect, which promotes the teacher's professional development. This thesis aims to give an overview of the policy mainly with the method of policy analysis, on this basis it tries to probe into some revelation for our country on this issue. There are 6 parts in this thesis:Part one explains the background, aims and methods of the thesis and introduces the theory frame of the research. Part Two tries to analyze the factors which influence the formulation of the New Teacher Induction Policy. Part Three describes the contents of the New Teacher Induction Policy, including the standards for the induction period, the induction supporting and monitoring programs, the assessment arrangements and the quality assurance. Part four discusses the details on the implementation of the policy, especially in schools and local Education authorities. Part five summarizes the impact and effectiveness of the New Teacher Induction Policy and the problems and reasons as well. In the last part, the issue of new teacher induction in our country has been discussed, including the achievements and problems. In addition, this part also tries to summarize the reference for the research and practice for new teacher induction of our country.
