Leadership style and employees' organizational commitment: An exploration study of managers and employees of Hsin-Zhu Science Park (China)

Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to explore leadership style and employees' organizational commitment in the Hsin-Zhu Science Park in Taiwan. Instruments included the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ); and the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire XII (LBDQ XII). The analysis methods included Pearson's Product-Moment Coefficient of correlation, t test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and two-way analysis of variance. The results of the study show that the leadership style is predominantly a trend toward a participating leadership style and that an employee's organizational commitment is predominantly a value commitment. There is a positive, significant correlation between total leadership style and total organizational commitment, and there is a significant correlation between the four individual leadership styles and value commitment.
