Abstract/Summary:
The Air Expeditionary Force is a war-fighting concept that the U.S. Air Force has implemented in recent months. Planners have identified several concerns with the process. One concern is personnel sustainment versus the number of positions required for any conflict. Are there sufficient Air Reserve Component members to sustain such an operation? This project uses an existing tool for Active Duty forces and assists in answering the question. The project will use current personnel databases and Air Force Instructions to obtain the required raw data to use the model.;The model will analyze two career fields: Flight Nurses and Satellite & Wideband Communications Equipment. These two career fields were chosen due to their high deployment tempo and includes officer and enlisted ranks.;This application can also be used with modification with virtual organizations and geographically separated corporate locations.;The findings of the study showed that with modification to the excel spreadsheet, that the program is sufficient for planning purposes. The results of mission capability of the Reserve forces are dependent on skill/grade levels, but overall they can perform the deployed mission. Of course, any major inputs into the current status of the Reserve program that were studied will change these findings.
