Abstract/Summary:
The current study examines the effect of three characteristics including demographic, organizational, and personality traits on the levels of job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction using self-survey data from the Thailand Immigration Police. Prior research on job satisfaction focused on western countries and mostly in the business field not in the police context. Only a few previous studies have examined the determinants toward job satisfaction among Thailand police which was based on two factors (demographic and organizational). Previous research suggests that organizational factors influences officer's perception on job satisfaction while personality characteristic is moderately influential. The results of the analysis of Thailand data indicates that one demographic (inquiry or detectives duty), work environment and some Asian work values (credential and pragmatic) have positive impact towards the levels of job satisfaction while personality characteristics showed no impression. In contrast, one demographic factor (51-60 years of age) has a positive relationship on the levels of job dissatisfaction. Additionally, all of the personality traits have statistically significant influence on the levels of job dissatisfaction.;KEY WORDS: Job Satisfaction, Job Dissatisfaction, Thailand, Immigration, Police, Personality, Organizational, Demographic.
