Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this record of study was to isolate and identify specific student learning objectives, student activities, and methods of instruction for a thirty-two clock hour classroom course in driver education. The content was structured into 14 modular units of instruction and referenced to all four approved high school driver education textbooks addressing the required essential elements for driver education.; Once developed, the curriculum guide was field-tested and critiqued by a group of traffic safety education instructors and administrators employed by the Houston Community College System, Houston, Texas. Revisions were made and the guide was again field-tested and critiqued, this time by a group of traffic safety instructors employed by the Region IV Education Service Center, Houston, Texas. The guide was revised based on this field test and reviewed by Mr. Gene Wilkins, Safety and Driver Education Services Specialist, Texas Education Agency, Austin, Texas.; This curriculum guide will be utilized in the classroom phase of the Houston Community College driver education program. Driver education programs throughout the state may avail themselves of this curriculum guide should they so desire.
