Individual Choice And Structural Change:Study On The Evolution Of Migrant Workers' Living Space

As a new labor group emerging in the process of urbanization in China,migrant workers are contributing to the city's social and economic development,while their problems in the city have gradually been recognized by the community,such as the weak position,living space and citizenship.and have become an urgent issue for all cities.On the basis of combing the relevant theories of urban social space structure,migrant workers and their living space,this paper constructs the evolution mechanism,analyzes and describes the evolution stage and characteristics of migrant workers' living space.Therefore,taking the migrant workers in the main urban area of Nanjing as an empirical case,the evolution law of the living space of migrant workers are discussed.Constructing the evolution mechanism of the migrant workers' living space.Firstly,Combing and summarizing the relevant research theories that have guiding significance for this article;Then,using the above theories and combining the basic characteristics of urban migrant workers in China,and the characteristics of urban residential space structure,the mechanism of the evolution of the migrant workers' living space is constructed.Finally,the evolution stage of migrant workers' living space is divided on this basis,and the evolution characteristics of the living space are described from the macroscopic “external” spatial structure and the micro “endogenous” individualized selection.The former mainly includes the agglomeration and differentiation of migrant workers' living space,and the latter mainly includes the residential migration and living conditions of the migrant workers.Taking the main urban area of Nanjing as an empirical research case,from the macroscopic living space agglomeration and living space differentiation,the micro-individual residence migration and the evolution of living conditions,four elements of the two levels are used to conduct an empirical analysis of the evolution of migrant workers' living space in the main urban area of Nanjing.At the macro level: panel data(2009 and 2015)are used to describe the overall characteristics and macro-laws of t migrant workers' living space.First,it is the evolution of the living space gathering of migrant workers in the main urban area of Nanjing.Based on the spatially-grid main urban area,the spatial analysis method is used to interpret the “evolution of living space distribution”and “evolution of living space center” of migrant workers,and summarize the characteristics of living space agglomeration of the group.Secondly,it is the evolution of the living space differentiation of migrant workers in the main urban area of Nanjing.Combining the traditional spatial ecological analysis method(factor ecological analysis method)with the spatial grid,and based on the acquired data reality,select the targeted index factors for migrant workers' living space analysis,and significant variables that affect the spatial differentiation of the group.From the three levels of factor evolution,spatial evolution and spatial differentiation characteristics,the paper analyzes the internal characteristics and evolution of the migrant workers' living space.At the micro level: the use of longitudinal data(2015 and 2016)to reflect the spatial and temporal trajectory and living conditions of individual migrant workers.First,it is the analysis of the migration trajectory of the individual migrant workers in the main urban area of Nanjing.By referring to the research methods of individual migration trajectory in time geography,from the time,space and space-time comprehensive dimensions,analyzing the characteristics of residential migration trajectory of migrant workers in different occupations,excavating the evolution characteristics of the living space of various types of migrant workers under the effect of individual choice.Secondly,it is the evolution analysis of the living conditions of the individual migrant workers in the main urban area of Nanjing.By extracting the typical living space of migrant workers,and using special interviews,field research and questionnaire statistics,form the four aspects of their living space,space layout,apartment conditions and supporting facilities,in-depth study of the living conditions of migrant workers and explore the spatial evolution characteristics of the group.The research of this paper has certain practical value and theoretical value,which plays a supporting role in the formulation of relevant policies for migrant workers in the future urban development process,and also provides reference for the group to integrate into the city and realize citizenship.
