| United Nation Peacekeeping is a collective operation established by Resolution of United Nations Security Council or General Assembly and conducted by General Secretary,aim at addressing international conflicts,restoring or maintaining international peace by deploying armed or unarmed military personnel including police troops and civilian troops.It has been 70 years since peacekeeping operation was established in 1948.During these years,international situation has been deeply changed,the concept of peacekeeping has been evolving from traditionally carrying out military task to multi-dimensional missions including military and civilian tasks,from keeping peace to building peace,from preventing conflicts to humanitarian relief.Peacekeeping has been developing the most important means to maintain international peace and security,it put positively and effectively effort to alleviating reginal tension,subside intrastate conflict and maintain regional and world peace and security.China is the founding member state of the United Nations firstly signing on Charter of the United Nations.Given history causes,China didn't resume her legal right in United Nations until 1971,Since then,China began to participate in UN affairs.In September 1988,China formally applied for the membership of Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations of United Nations.In the same year,China's,for the first time,deployment of 20 civilian personnel to UNTAG to assistant Namibia complete independent progress began her participation in UN Peacekeeping.After investigation in the development of UN Peacekeeping history,this dissertation analysis China's contribution to international peace and security and its interests abroad since China participated in UN Peacekeeping in 1988.On the thesis,the dissertation divide into five parts excluding Introduction.Part ? discuss the beginning and development of UN Peacekeeping.Trough sorting out the history of emerging,developing and evolving progress of peacekeeping,in the aspect of quantity,function,scale and measures,we can understand today's peacekeeping is incomparable.It is no doubt that peacekeeping make huge contribution to regional and international peace and security.Part ? argues China's participation in UN peacekeeping.In 1972,China resumed legal right in UN,from then on,China began to participate UN affairs,and went through four phases to peacekeeping,which is observation phase,cautious to participate,limited to participate and comprehensively expand to participate.This part discuss China's expanding on peacekeeping region and diversity of Chinese peacekeeping personnel and fields.Part ? discuss China's participation in peacekeeping make great contribution to international society.As member of United Nations Security Council,China's participation in peacekeeping help to solidify purpose and principles of the Charter of UN,enhance authority of UN,maintain reginal peace and security,and assistant to restore social stability and post-conflict reconstruction in war-torn countries.Part ? analysis the significance of China's participation in peacekeeping from the perspective of state level.Through taking part in peacekeeping,China not only manifest its image of being responsible,but also protect security environment for oversea interests.Part ? propose advice for China's future participation in peacekeeping.Considering that China has been increasingly supporting to and expanding participation in peacekeeping,this chapter propose several reflection and advice on the basis of how to increase discourse power in peacekeeping,how to be more prudent when participating peacekeeping and how to enhance quality and capability of peacekeeping troops. |
