Since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,charitable organizations have played an increasingly important role in participating in social governance and building a new pattern of grass-roots governance.The state even endows charitable organizations with the function of "third distribution".The performance of charitable organizations participating in social governance has become a hot issue,among which political connection is one of the important factors affecting the performance of charitable organizations.Political connection is a common social phenomenon in the field of charitable organizations.The research on political connection is relatively mature in the field of enterprise management.However,the research on political connection of charitable organizations is less.Although individual literature has been involved,there is still room for improvement in the breadth and depth of the research.The impact of political connections of charitable organizations on organizational performance has become an important research topic.The development of charitable organizations in the Pearl River Delta cities(Shenzhen,Guangzhou,Foshan)is representative.This paper selects the leaders of charitable organizations which have been established for more than three years in the Pearl River Delta region as the research objects,adopts quota sampling and random sampling methods to carry out questionnaire survey,and obtains sufficient research data through multi-party survey.This paper studies the relationship between political connection and organizational performance by taking political connection as independent variable and organizational performance as dependent variable.Political connection is divided into two dimensions:political experience and political network,and organizational performance is divided into two dimensions:internal performance and external performance.In order to construct a comprehensive and three-dimensional research model and examine the role of other variables in the main effect,mediating variables and moderating variables are introduced.Mediating variables include organizational learning and organizational legitimacy,while moderating variables include entrepreneurial opportunity perception and institutional support.Organizational learning includes three dimensions:learning commitment,open mind and shared vision;organizational legitimacy includes regulatory legitimacy,normative legitimacy and cognitive legitimacy;entrepreneurial opportunity perception includes two dimensions:opportunity identification and opportunity acquisition.Combined with theoretical analysis,a total of 25 research hypotheses are put forward,and the hypotheses are tested on the basis of data analysis.Among them,16 hypotheses are supported,3 hypotheses are partially supported,and 6 hypotheses are not supported.Through the empirical analysis,we draw the following conclusions:first,we empirically test the complex multidimensional structure of variables,and confirm the applicability of the scale to Chinese charitable organizations.The second is to verify that the political connections of charitable organizations have a direct impact on organizational performance,in which political experience has a more significant impact on organizational performance than no political experience,and with the increase of administrative rank,organizational performance also gradually improves;The more extensive the political network is,the better the organizational performance will be.Third,it is found that both organizational learning and organizational legitimacy play a partial mediating role in the impact of political connection on organizational performance.Political connection is positively correlated with organizational learning,organizational learning is positively correlated with organizational performance,political connection is positively correlated with organizational legitimacy,and organizational legitimacy is positively correlated with organizational performance.Fourth,it is found that entrepreneurial opportunity perception and institutional support play a positive moderating role in the relationship between political connection and organizational performance.Institutional support plays a positive moderating role in the relationship between political connection and organizational learning,and between political connection and organizational legitimacy,However,entrepreneurial opportunity perception has no moderating effect between political connection and organizational learning,or between political connection and organizational legitimacy.Fifth,there are differences in the role of demographic variables on organizational performance.There are significant differences in the four variables of job nature,monthly income level,organization fund scale and political experience.There are partial differences in the three variables of gender,age and charity organization type.There are no significant differences in the three variables of political outlook,charity organization organizers and charity organizations in different cities.Based on the empirical results,the suggestions are as follows:Build a positive and healthy relationship between government and society,give full play to the social governance function of charitable organizations;By strengthening the construction of charitable organization system,help charitable organizations develop rapidly;To build a learning charity and improve its learning ability;Strengthen the construction of charity talent team,improve the specialization of charity talent;By improving the legitimacy foundation of charitable organizations,provide legal protection for the development of charitable organizations;Through the construction of scientific evaluation system of charitable organizations,promote the comprehensive development of charitable organizations.The research value of this paper lies in that by testing the causality or correlation between variables,and verifying a series of mediating variables and moderating variables,it studies the influence of political connection on organizational performance from different perspectives of charitable organizations,and then constructs a comprehensive three-dimensional theoretical model,which provides a new research paradigm for the development of theoretical analysis.In practice,in order to build a scientific relationship between government and society,strengthen the construction of charitable organizations,promote charitable organizations to better participate in social governance,and improve their own governance system and governance ability are of great practical significance.
