In order to realize the performance improvement and sustainable growth of the organization, non-profit organizations not only need system environment construction, but also need to obtain the internal and external resources effectively by their own power, which always requires them to seek the political connection of the governments who master the allocation right of a large number of social resources. The previous studies mostly affirmed the political connection’s positive influence on organizational performance from the perspective of enterprise. However, under the background of China’s transitional period, what on earth the political connection’s function is in the development of non-profit organizations, and what is its influence on intrinsic mechanism of non-profit organizations, have yet to be further in-depth study.Focusing on the basic problem of the intrinsic mechanism between political connection and non-profit organization performance, this study is based on the social capital theory, resouce dependence theory and high order theory, and tries to introduce the variables such as organization innovation, and establish the analysis model and research hypothesis of non-profit organization’s political connection by theoretical derivation. Furthermore, we also conducted data collection among the non-profit organizations in 11 cities of Zhejiang province, and eventually won 197 effective and completed questionnaires. After the empirical analysis on the hypotheses put forward by this study by using the 197 questionnaires from non-profit organizations, our conceptual model gets the support of those data, and among the 6 hypothesises,4 gets the data support. Overall, the research conclusion fills in the blanks of the previous research on the political connection in the non-profit organizations. It expands the research scope and brings a certain enlighenment on the non-profit organizations’ development and the goverments’ decisions under the background of economic system transformation, and finally achieve the desired research purpose.In summary, this study gets the following basic conclusions, which also constitute the innovation of this paper:(1)Political connection plays an important impact on the development of non-profit organizations. The influence of non-profit organizations’ political connection in the aspects of political experience and political network on organizational performance are different:the head of non-profit organizations who has political experience has negative effect on the organizational performance, while the political network has significant positive effect on the organizational performance. (2) Organizational innovation plays an intermediary role in the relationship between non-profit oraganizations’ political connection and organizational performance. The non-profit organizations get resources by political connection, thus promote their own innovation behavior, and further change into the organizational performance. (3) The influence of political connection on the organizational performance has two kinds of paths:direct and indirect, and both forms intrinsic influence mechanism of the political connection of non-profit organizations on organizational performance.
