Ethnic Inter-embedded Community Heterogeneity, Community Organization Participation And Inter-ethnic Integration

Since the reform and opening up,with the dramatic changes of Chinese society,especially the acceleration of urbanization and the development of housing system reform,the trend of cross regional flow of different ethnic groups is increasing.A large number of different ethnic groups gather and coexist in the same community,and the trend of mutual embeddedness within the community is becoming increasingly obvious,which has brought a profound impact on community construction and governance.In order to strengthen the governance of ethnic inter-embedded communities,avoid the isolation caused by social stratification,and prevent extremism and ensure the stability of border areas.In May 2014,at the conference on Xinjiang development,it was proposed to establish a social structure in which all ethnic groups are embedded and a community environment in which all ethnic groups are embedded,and to promote the interaction and integration of various ethnic groups.The policy was reiterated at the second forum on Xinjiang development.At the meeting,it was proposed that all Chinese should understand each other,respect each other,tolerate each other,appreciate each other,learn from each other,help each other,and hold together like pomegranate seeds.In September of the same year,at the national work conference of the Party Central Committee,it was put forward that community is the focus of urban nationality issues,and emphasized the construction of mutual embedded social structure and harmonious community environment.From this point of view,the construction of ethnic interembedded communities has become the focus of urban ethnic work in China.The existing researches mainly focus on the construction of ethnic interembedded communities,but they are not enough concerned about the path and mechanism between ethnic inter-embedded communities and ethnic integration,so they can not reveal the reasons for the differences in the results between ethnic inter-embedded communities construction and ethnic integration.Based on the perspective of community organization,this paper discusses the mechanism of community heterogeneity on ethnic integration.First of all,taking the analysis of community heterogeneity as the starting point,this paper analysis community heterogeneity from three aspects of social structure,community environment and community culture.On this basis,the basic characteristics of the heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities are extracted.Then,through the relationship among the heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities,community organizations and ethnic integration,this paper constructs a conceptual model of ethnic inter-embedded communities and ethnic integration,and uses this model to explain the mechanism of the heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities on the ethnic integration.Finally,based on the survey data of many provinces,the author designs a conceptual model by using SEM and then verifies the mechanism of community heterogeneity on ethnic integration,identifies the intermediary role of community organizations between the two sides,and puts forward relevant some suggestions about ethnic inter-embedded communities.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)This paper combs the relevant theories of ethnic inter-embedded communities,and extracts the three dimensions of community heterogeneity,including cultural heterogeneity,social structure heterogeneity and environmental heterogeneity.The data show that the difference of community environmental quality is small,community social structure heterogeneity and community cultural heterogeneity are relatively large.(2)Based on the text data of national demonstration communities,this paper summarizes the experience of ethnic inter-embedded community construction,such as promoting multi-party participation in community governance,improving community environmental quality,promoting the interaction of different ethnic groups in social structure,creating a pluralistic and integrated community cultural atmosphere,etc.(3)It is found that community heterogeneity has a positive impact on ethnic integration,but the effect and path of different dimensions of heterogeneity on ethnic integration are different.Community cultural heterogeneity has the greatest impact on ethnic integration,followed by the impact of community social structure heterogeneity,and the impact of community environmental quality heterogeneity is relatively small.(4)The results show that the influence of community heterogeneity on ethnic integration is indirect,which promotes ethnic integration by directly promoting residents to participate in community organization activities.Community neighborhood committees and Party organizations are the core forces to promote ethnic blending.Community social organizations play a small role in this process,but they still play an important role.(5)It is found that the improvement of relevant policies is of great significance to promote ethnic integration.Government departments should not only strengthen the construction of ethnic inter-embedded communities,but also take relevant measures to promote the role of community organizations on the basis of respecting community environment,social structure and cultural differences.Especially for the community social organizations which are in the initial stage,the government should play a positive role in the cultivation and development.Based on the beneficial exploration of existing research results,this paper makes the following tentative innovations:(1)this paper discusses the mechanism between heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities and ethnic integration from the perspective of community organization,and discusses the impact of heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities on ethnic integration from the perspective of community organization.This study not only builds a bridge between them,but also tentatively expands the application scope of casting the consciousness of Chinese national community and promoting ethnic integration,and constructs the research framework.(2)Based on a largescale questionnaire survey,this study makes a qualitative and quantitative analysis on the community structure heterogeneity,community environment heterogeneity and community cultural heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities.Based on the systematic description of community heterogeneity,this paper summarizes the internal characteristics of the emergence and development the heterogeneity of ethnic inter-embedded communities,which is of certain research significance.(3)This paper clarifies the mechanism of the indirect impact of ethnic inter-embedded communities heterogeneity on ethnic integration by directly acting on community organizations,and creatively explains that one of the important reasons for the improvement of ethnic integration lies in the active participation and activity effectiveness of community organizations,so as to open up another way for the research on ethnic integration.It also responds to the argument that homogeneity is more conducive to ethnic integration or heterogeneity is conducive to ethnic integration.(4)The structural equation method is used to verify the correlation mechanism between ethnic inter-embedded communities heterogeneity and ethnic integration,and further identify the mutual influence effect.In view of the relatively rare empirical research,it provides a very useful empirical support for the follow-up research in the exploration and application of methods.Admittedly,there are still many limitations and deficiencies in this paper.For example,typical cases can be selected for in-depth analysis to further deepen and improve the results of quantitative research.However,due to the epidemic prevention and control period,it is difficult to carry out field research.In this regard,the end of this study points out the limitations of this study and the direction of future improvement and in-depth research.
