Japan's Economic Diplomacy Towards Vietnam And Its Effects (1986-2022)

Based on rational theory,this paper takes the effect of economic diplomacy after Vietnam's Reform as the research object and takes Japan's economic diplomacy in Vietnam after Vietnam's Reform as a case.Using the quantitative and qualitative research methods to review the history of Japan's economic diplomacy with Vietnam,it analyzes the financial aid,direct investment,and trade diplomacy,finally evaluates the political effect,social effect,economic effect,and international effect of Japan's economic diplomacy to Vietnam.Three conclusions are drawn in this paper.Firstly,there are two types of economic diplomacy: the economic development type and the sustainable development type.Secondly,there are three types of “Economic Development” Economic diplomacy,namely,Economic Development assistance,FDI and trade diplomacy.Economic Development Assistance is dominated by the state,with enterprises involved,and the state pays more attention to the political effects produced;FDI and trade diplomacy are carried out by enterprises,and although the state can guide enterprises,companies are more inclined to achieve economic results.Thirdly,when assessing the impact of sustainable development economic diplomacy,"Free aid" and "Accord with the reality of the recipient country" are the necessary conditions for success.
