A Study On Mainstream Political Consciousness Of Chinese Contemporary College Students And Its Formation Mechanism

The youth is the future of the future of the country while college students are the backbone of the youth. The mainstream political consciousness of college students is directly related to regime stability and development of the country. It is necessary to have an objective analysis of the characteristics and the formation mechanism of the mainstream political consciousness of Chinese contemporary college students, which is the request of strengthening the ideological and political education of college students and the internal need of having the successors who devote themselves into the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Based on the basic theory of political consciousness studies, this paper analyzes the political consciousness from the aspects of concept, content, features, functions, the nature and classification. It is believed that political consciousness is a political ideology of life, a reflection of political reality and political issues. Political consciousness is the sum of ideology and theory, which are about people's thoughts about social system, political life and the relationship among nation, class, social and political groups. In the direction of historical materialism and dialectical materialism, this paper explains the scientific connotation, basic concepts and main features of Marxism political consciousness. It analyzes the formation and characteristics of Chinese ancient political consciousness and discusses the political theory of the Communist Party of China and the formation and characteristics of western political consciousness theory.Based on the basic theory of political consciousness, this paper does a in-depth research about the mainstream political consciousness of Chinese contemporary college students with a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. Through the analysis of the survey data, we can see the mainstream political consciousness of Chinese contemporary college status is good. College students pay much attention to the politics and have positive political orientation. They own right political awareness and clear political attitudes. They have higher political participation and identify the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. All of these are basically in accordance with trends and requirements of the party and the country's development.But at the same time, there are still some negative, even wrong points of view of political consciousness in Chinese contemporary college students, which directly affects the behavior of Chinese contemporary college students. Based on the summary of both positive and negative aspects, we believe that Chinese contemporary college students' political awareness has some characteristics, such as autonomy, intellectuality, utility, superficiality, fuzziness and contradiction. Based on the analysis of the interaction of these characteristics, this paper thinks that the main elements of affecting the mainstream political consciousness of college students are complex and diverse external environment, ideological and political education in the university and college students new ideas and behavior characteristics.The paper, based on the conclusions of the research, summarized the formation mechanism of mainstream political consciousness of Chinese contemporary college students, pointing out that the formation of contemporary college students mainstream political consciousness is related to ideological and political education at the core of education persuade mechanism, to Individual communication at the core of mental communication mechanism, and to personal career development at the core of self-motivation mechanism. The paper further proposes optimization methods of mainstream political consciousness of Chinese contemporary college students, including formation methods, evaluation methods, educational methods, warning methods and feedback methods.
