The change of students' learning styles in the information age has put forward new requirements for the learning space,so under the support of modern information technology,it has become hot topics of present educational research for transforming the traditional teaching space and innovating the technology-enhanced learning space,so as to change the engaging experience of the students.The reform of the learning space with the support of emerging technologies has changed the students' emotional engagement and standard behavioral engagement.The aims of the research are to take advantage of the technology-enhanced learning space and integrate teachers' teaching methods to encourage students with different characteristics to participate in learning activities so that we can improve students' learning performance.The research,which focuses on four respects: “How does students' engagement status change from the teaching space to the learning space”,“What is the relationship among teachers' teaching philosophy,spatial behavior and students' emotional engagement”,“What is the relationship among students' spatial experience,adaptive characteristics and student engagement”,“How do environment elements of the learning space,teachers' teaching methods,and students' characteristics comprehensively affect student engagement”,explores the influence mechanism that the technology-enhanced learning space affects student engagement using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.To address the above questions,the dissertation carries out the following research:1.The theoretical framework of the research has been established.The research has established the theoretical framework of “Space-Teachers-Students-Engagement”and determined four framework elements of the learning space,teachers,students and student engagement on the basis of constructivism theory,theory of environmentbehavior relations,the influence model of student engagement and the previous research results.Driven by teachers' beliefs and behaviors,technology-enhanced learning space affects student engagement through the implementation of teachers' teaching methods and students' experiences.The theoretical framework provides guidance and reference for the conduct of the empirical research.2.The influence of teachers' behaviors,their beliefs and other relevant factors on student engagement has been analyzed.In the technology-enhanced learning space,teachers shall develop student-centered teaching beliefs and integrate technologies for effective teaching.The technology-enhanced learning space is the practice field of teachers' transformation of teaching philosophy and implementation of studentcentered teaching methods.The empirical investigation shows that teachers can feel that student engagement in the technology-enhanced learning space is higher than in the traditional teaching space and that teachers' teaching beliefs and teaching behaviors exert a significant impact on the student engagement in the learning space within teachers' perception range.3.The influence of students' spatial experiences and adaptive characteristics on their engagement has been investigated.Students' learning experience in the technology-enhanced learning space has contributed to the development of relatively stable preferences and adaptive characteristics on space.The investigation founds that students' learning experiences will affect their learning motivation which can improve their engagement and that students' adaptive characteristics will affect their experiences,and students' spatial preferences and adaptive characteristics,in turn,will affect their engagement.4.A comprehensive analysis about the influence of the environment of the learning space,teachers' teaching methods,student's characteristics,and other factors on student engagement forms the model which reflects the influence of the technology-enhanced learning space on students' engagement.The technology-enhanced learning space affects student engagement through the following three approaches: the situational experiences of U-Learning generated by the integration of the learning space and teaching methods affect student engagement;students' spatial experiences impact their engagement by learning motivation;students' spatial preferences,adaptability and other characteristics also influence their engagement.As the further analysis on benefits and efficiency of influence factors shows,the integration of the learning space and teaching methods brings the most visible impact on student engagement,and students' spatial engagement and learning motivation have limited influence on students' engagement,while students' spatial preferences and adaptive characteristics exert a certain effect on their engagement.The influence efficiency of behavioral engagement is most obvious,but there needs to be a further study on the efficiency of students' emotional engagement and cognitive engagement.
