Research On The Process Of Coping With Plights In The Urban Autism Family From The Perspective Of Resilience

The plights and coping strategies of families with autism is an important research topic in social science.Most of the existing studies explore the plights of families with autism from a negative perspective,and the resilience of families with autism in the process of coping with the plight is insufficient.The study of family resilience in the West has formed a relatively systematic research,but the study of family resilience in the context of Chinese culture based on the process perspective is relatively lacking.Taking 30 families of autism as examples,this study takes the family resilience theory as the basis of theoretical analysis,and uses narrative research method to analyze the resilience of families with autism.Taking the main life cycle of autism as the time axis,this study divides the main life cycle of autism into four stages: diagnosis stage,preschool stage,school-age stage and adulthood stage.From the dimensions of belief,organization and communication,this study explores the family with autism how to deal with plight,and reveals the process and mechanism of resilience of the family with autism at the local context of China,so as to provide some suggestions.It provides an analytical framework to understand the resilience of Chinese families,when there are in the plight.Family resilience comes into being in the process of actively coping with plights.The plights of autism is not a short-term stress or a single event,but a long-term family crisis.The main plights of autistic families are economic,psychological,career development,social exclusion,family care,children's education,provide for the aged and so on.Family belief system is the core of family resilience.Family belief system plays a role through the family value system based on moral sense and sense of responsibility,which is composed of positive expectation,positive identification and interpretation of experience meaning.Flexible family structure and effective resource integration are the basis of family resilience of autistic patients.The family plays an important role in coping by constructing the relationship network.Flexible and open communication mode is a lasting force for families to cope with plights.The communication process reflects the coping wisdom of families in the local culture.Resilience of autistic family is characterized by dynamic and structural diversity.Family resilience is shown in different ways in different periods.Family resilience plays a role through network and responsibility.In the period of diagnosis and preschool,families mainly rely on the expansion of the family to cope with the plights by the emotional network based on blood relationship and its strong cohesion.In the school age,with the change of family beliefs and cognition of autistic,families will integrate and mobilize internal and external resources,expand family resources,and cope with difficulties through a mixed network of blood,business and geographical relationships.In adulthood,when the extended family's relationship network gradually shrinks and makes the family unable to cope with the long-term crisis,the family forms a joint force to cope with the crisis through the reciprocal relationship network composed of non blood "semi-family" mutual aid organizations.In the process of coping with difficulties,family members contribute to the family through their sense of identity and responsibility to the family and show good adaptability.Based on the comparison between Chinese and Western family resilience,there are differences between Chinese and Western family resilience.Western family resilience is based on religious belief,individual internal characteristics and resources,and emphasizes individual endogenous resources.China's family resilience is based on the family value system based on the sense of morality and responsibility.Family members develop family resilience through unremitting efforts and the support of expanding network.The expression of "force" in western family resilience is relatively radical.The performance of "force" in Chinese family resilience is relatively stable.It is also an important family resilience for families to accept their children's disabilities,adapt to the adversity brought about by the disabilities,and try their best to coexist peacefully with the disabled.This study found the particularity of resilience of autistic family,revealed the dynamic development process and mechanism of family resilience,expanded the local application space and explanatory power of family resilience research,enriched the discussion of family resilience in the context of localization,and provided theoretical reference for policy-making and social work services.
