The coming of the children with autism brings unbearable weight to family, getsfamily members into trouble economically, psychologically, physically and so on, andseriously affects their quality of life. Families with autistic children face dismal statusof social support and the situation that their needs cannot be met. At present, thesocial support to the children with autism and their families mainly focuses on earlyrehabilitation intervention for them, and the families, however, suffer more in life. Soit is necessary to ease the psychological pressure, increase social support networks,and prevent the marginalization of the social life of families with autistic children. Asa major of helping people and helping themselves, social work has its professionalsuperiority in exploring the work practice of families with autistic children,considering not only the current predicament of the families, but also the futuredevelopment of them. Though Social Work has advanced service conceptions,scientific expertise and mature practice skills, the practice carrying out in the servicefield of families with autistic children in our country is not much. The service of theBlue Cane Parents’ Club is a new service form that social work intervening infamilies with autistic children, which provides a platform for those families to shareexperiences and help each other. During the four months practicing at the club, I cameinto contact with many families with autistic children, knew their predicaments andthe status of social support, and by utilizing resilience theory and social supporttheory, I did casework service for one family. According to the theories, I selectivelyguided the target object and enhanced the impression of them, hoping to explore thesituation that social work intervening in families with autistic children, improve thepractice work of the status of social support to those families, and share theachievement and deficiency of the intervention of social work.
