In the past 40 years of Reform and Opening,China's economy has gradually entered the "new normal" of medium and high-speed growth after experiencing high-speed growth,and it is facing multiple challenges: economic growth shift,structural optimization and upgrading,and development power conversion.At the same time,China's manufacturing industry is also facing new opportunities: The development mode of relying on the advantages of labor and resource-intensive products to achieve growth has become unsustainable.China's manufacturing industry has entered a key historical period of relying on innovation lead and transform to the middle and high-end.As an important department that provides production equipment for all sectors of the national economy,the equipment manufacturing industry and its technological content will play a very important role in the modernization of China's manufacturing industry and the entire national economy.From a realistic point of view,China is a veritable equipment manufacturing country,and the output value of the equipment manufacturing industry has ranked first in the world for seven consecutive years.However,China's equipment manufacturing industry still has many problems such as backward technology and equipment,extensive production methods,and poor independent innovation capabilities.The "big but not strong" dilemma has made China's equipment manufacturing industry at the low end of the global value chain for a long time,which greatly limits the overall progress of China's manufacturing industry to the middle and high end.Therefore,in the new historical stage,it is a very important proposition that continue to break through the bottleneck of the development of China's equipment manufacturing industry,enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of China's equipment manufacturing industry,and establish a "technical benchmark" made in China to realize the transformation of China's equipment manufacturing industry from big to strong.There are extensive economic and technological links between different industries.Therefore,the driving force for the transformation and upgrading of the equipment manufacturing industry comes not only from within the industry,but also from other industries that are closely related to the industry outside the industry.In addition,with the continuous development of economy and technology,the relationship between industrial form and industry is constantly changing,which also provides a new opportunity for the transformation and upgrading of equipment manufacturing.Since the 1970 s,industrial convergence has gradually become the trend of industrial development.The boundaries of traditional industries such as technology,products and business between different industries have gradually become blurred or even disappear.On this basis,new industrial formats have been formed and become new dynamic power and source of the economic growth.In this context,the producer service industry is continuously integrated into the manufacturing value chain,and the value of the manufacturing industry is shifting from the traditional manufacturing link to the service link.The industry convergence of manufacturing industry and service industry have become a trend.As an important component of the productive service industry,the high-tech service industry has gradually become an important carrier of technological innovation due to its knowledge and technology-intensive characteristics,and has increasingly become an important economic sector leading the technological advancement and structural upgrading of other industries.Then,can the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry break through the development bottleneck of equipment manufacturing industry and finally realize the transformation and upgrading of equipment manufacturing industry? Based on this,this paper has carried out the following work from the theoretical and empirical aspects:In terms of theory,this paper explores the premise,motivation,path,process and influencing factors of the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry based on the theory of industrial convergence,and clarifies the mechanism of the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry.On this basis,combined with the relevant theories of industrial transformation and upgrading,this paper analyzes the convergence effect of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry,and in-depth study of the impact mechanism of the convergence of equipment manufacturing industy and high-tech service industry on the total factor productivity and innovation efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry,and constructs a complete theoretical analysis framework of the “convergence mechanism?convergence effect”of the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry.On the empirical side,based on the empirical data of 30 provinces(cities)in China from 2007 to 2016,using the coupling evaluation method to measured the convergence level of China's equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry,and using the panel Tobit model and space Dubin model to empirically test the impact of the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry on the total factor productivity and innovation efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry.Finally,based on theoretical and empirical analysis,this paper puts forward policy recommendations to promote the convergence of China's equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry and promote the transformation and upgrading of equipment manufacturing industry.After systematic theoretical analysis and empirical analysis,this paper mainly draws the following conclusions:Theoretical aspects:(1)The industrial characteristics of equipment manufacturing and high-tech service industry determine the high industrial relationship between the two industries,which has become the premise of the convergence development of the two industries.On this basis,driven by market factors,technical factors and institutional factors,the two industries have gradually developed a trend of convergence development.The industrial convergence of equipment manufacturing and high-tech service industry has three major paths: technology convergence,product convergence and management convergence.These three major paths affect each other and promote each other,and jointly promote the deepening of industrial convergence between the equipment manufacturing industry and the high-tech service industry.In the end,under the combined effect of the three major integration paths,three types of convergence results will be formed,namely the birth of new industries,the upgrading of the original industry or the birth of new industries and the upgrading of the original industry exist simultaneously.In addition,from a mid-view perspective,the level of convergence of equipment manufacturing and high-tech service industries in different regions is also affected by the conditions of the two local industries.These factors include industrial scale,industrial structure,industrial performance and institutional culture.(2)The convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry exist the effect of improving the total factor productivity and the efficiency of innovation in the equipment manufacturing industry.These two effects have jointly promoted the transformation and upgrading of the equipment manufacturing industry.The convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry has brought about the effect of total factor productivity improvement in equipment manufacturing industry through two major mechanisms: institutional reform and technological change.The convergence of the two major industries will continuously improve the management system and organizational model of the equipment manufacturing industry,reduce the transaction cost of the intermediate manufacturing service and production technology in the equipment manufacturing industry,that will conducive to technical efficiency improvement,thus achieving the improvement of total factor productivity;The convergence of the two industries has enabled the equipment manufacturing industry to continuously obtain advanced external technology supply,and continuously improve its own production technology through the learning effect,which is conducive to the technological progress,thus achieving the improvement of total factor productivity.The convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry can promote the innovation efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry through four major mechanisms: innovation effect,system effect,configuration effect and synergy effect.The convergence of the two industries is conducive to the diffusion of technology and the improvement of human capital;it is conducive to the integration of institutional and culture and reduces transaction costs;it is conducive to the optimal allocation of resources and the expansion of R&D investment;it is conducive to the integration of innovation elements,forming a collaborative innovation system for the two industries,and ultimately,the efficiency of innovation will be improved.Empirical aspects:(1)China's equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry have seen a clear convergence development trend.The convergence level of the two major industries in most provinces(cities)is rising and the development momentum is good.However,in general,the level of convergence of the two major industries is still low,showing the distribution characteristics of “pyramid type”.From a regional perspective,there is a clear regional difference in the level of convergence between China's equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry: In general,it shows the characteristics of the step-by-step development of the eastern > northeast > central > western,and in terms of annual average growth rate,it shows the characteristics of Central > East > West > Northeast.(2)The convergence of equipment manufacturing and high-tech service industry can indeed have a significant positive impact on the pure technical efficiency and technical level of the equipment manufacturing industry through the dual mechanisms of institutional reform and technological change,thereby promoting the improvement of total factor productivity.Among them,the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry has a certain lag effect on the promotion of pure technical efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry.Therefore,at the beginning of the convergence of the two major industries,the total factor productivity growth of equipment manufacturing industry is mainly promoted through technological progress effects;With the passage of time,the effect of technological progress in the current period has subsided,and the effect of the promotion of total factor productivity of industrial convergence has mainly come from the effect of upgrading the pure technology efficiency.(3)The innovation efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry and the convergence of the two industries have “space dependence”.When analyzing direct effects,the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry can have a significant positive impact on the innovation efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry,which is consistent with theoretical expectations;but when considering spatial effects,the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry has a significant negative spillover effect on the innovation efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry,which is mainly related to China's economic development stage.Finally,based on the research conclusions,in order to better promote the transformation and upgrading of China's equipment manufacturing industry in the context of industrial convergence,this paper proposes four policy recommendations: building a multi-industrial policy system,creating a good institutional environment;and strengthen the policy orientation of promoting the development of high-tech service industry and give play to the leading role of industry;actively guiding the transformation of equipment manufacturing industry,establishing a long-term mechanism for government R&D support;grasping the trend of industrial convergence,combining the characteristics of regional economic development to the development of equipment manufacturing and high-tech service industry differentiation guidance.The contributions and possible innovations of this paper are mainly reflected in three aspects: First,in terms of research perspective,this paper takes the convergence of manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry as a perspective to further refine and deepen the convergence of manufacturing and production service industry,which helps to enhance the explanatory power of industrial convergence theory in practical application.Second,in terms of theory research,this paper combines the theory of industrial convergence and industrial transformation and upgrading to construct a complete analysis framework of the “convergence mechanism?convergence effect” of the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry,thus making the existing industry convergence theory Supplement and perfection.Third,in terms of empirical research,this paper constructs a new index system for the convergence of equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech service industry,which makes it possible to analyze the two dimensions of time and space in the convergence of the two industries.
