Since joining the WTO,China has responded to the global trend of the value chain and actively participated in the global value chain trade and promoted manufacturing exports. However,in reality,in the global value chain division of labor system,China has long been engaged in processing manufacturing, and is still at the low position of the global value chain, resulting in low domestic value added in actual export, and resulting in manufacturing export benefits are limited. With the increasing and deepening of the new generation of information technology and "Internet +" applications, the penetration and support of high-quality,high-tech and high value-added service elements have become increasingly prominent in the manufacturing industry. The global manufacturing industry has shown a trend of manufacturing servitization transformation from “production-oriented manufacturing” to “service-oriented manufacturing”,which provides a breakthrough in promoting China's manufacturing export upgrading and value chain climbing. This article is the starting point, based on the research paradigm of theoretical research-Empirical research-countermeasure research, examines the impact of manufacturing servitization on the export upgrading of China's manufacturing industry under the framework of global value chain, and explores its internal mechanism, and then based on this, put forward some targeted and feasible policy recommendations. The research content of the full text is mainly summarized as follows:First, the study of theory and mechanism.Based on the research framework of related theories,an analysis was made on the mechanism of manufacturing servitization to upgrading of manufacturing export from the mathematical derivation. It proves that the R & D innovation effect, cost effect, and production segmentation effect are the channels through which the manufacturing servitization promotes upgrading of China's manufacturing exports, and provides theoretical support for the empirical analysis later.Second, the study of status quo.Using the input coefficients indicator and manufacturing export connotation service volume indicator under the framework of trade value-added decomposition to describe the actual situation of China's manufacturing servitization from multiple perspectives, and conducted comparative analysis with several important countries;Under the background of global value chain, the upgrading of Chinese manufacturing exports is decomposed into indicators such as the global value chain postion, global value chain participation, and export domestic value added rate, then comprehensively analyze the performance of China's manufacturing exports from the industry and country level.Third, the empirical research. On the bases of mechanism research and status quo research, the relevant methods in econometrics are mainly used to conduct an empirical analysis of the impact of manufacturing servitization on the upgrading of Chinese manufacturing exports at the industry and firm levels. With the support of the theoretical foundation and mechanism,by constructing a mediation effect model to further analyze how manufacturing servitization affects the upgrading of China's manufacturing exports,in order to reveal its possible impact channels.Fourth, countermeasure research.Based on the main conclusions of status quo and empirical research, this text put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions according to the impact of the manufacturing servitization on the upgrading of China's manufacturing exports and the function channels. The main research conclusions of this article are as follows:As for the status qua of China's manufacturing servitization, the trend of China's manufacturing servitization has increased, and different phenomena of manufacturing servitization have emerged depending on the density of factors in the manufacturing industry. The proportion of heterogeneous servitization in China's manufacturing industries is basically the same. The traditional service factor input(distribution and transportation service)accounts for a large proportion, while the modern service factor input(telecom service and financial service)has a smaller proportion, domestic sources of service content in various manufacturing industries are much higher than foreign sources. As for China's manufacturing export situation is concerned,China's participation in the international production network relies more on the import of foreign intermediates to complete the final product,so China mainly integrates into the production network of the global value chain by means of backward linkage. However, the forward participation of GVC shows a rising trend, and the backward participation of GVC shows a downward trend.China's postion in the global value chain is gradually rising, but the rising process is relatively slow.China's overall export domestic value-added ratio(DVAR)of China's manufacturing industry has shown a downward trend followed by an upward trend.Various manufacturing industries show different export characteristics according to factor density classification. At present,China's manufacturing servitization level is generally low,and has not yet reached the optimal critical level of manufacturing servitization, and there is still much room for improvement. From the perspective of industry-level empirical analysis, manufacturing servitization and China's participation in global value chains show an "inverted U-shape" relationship;Manufacturing servitization has a significant positive effect on the China's postion in global value chains; There is a significant "U-shaped" relationship between the manufacturing servitization and the domestic value added rate(DVAR)of China's manufacturing exports. In summary, there are differences in the use of different indicators to assess China's integration into global value chains. The manufacturing servitization has indeed promoted the upgrading of China's manufacturing exports. However, with the different development level of manufacturing servitization, its impact on China's integration into global value chains and the gradual realization of export upgrading has a periodical characteristic;According to the different types of service element sources, service input types, and industry element intensity classifications, the impact of manufacturing servitization on the export upgrading of China's manufacturing industry is different; The mechanism shows that R&D innovation and production segmentation are the channels through which manufacturing servitization has impact on the upgrading of the manufacturing exports, but mediating effect of production segmentation is weakening. From the empirical analysis at the firm level, there is an "inverted U" relationship between the manufacturing servitization and the quality of the export products;the influence of the manufacturing servitization on the quality of export products is obviously heterogeneous which depends on firm's trade pattern, location, ownership, source of service factors and type of service factor inputs; The mechanism shows that R&D innovation effects, cost effects, and production segmentation effects are possible channels for manufacturing servitization affecting the quality upgrade of export products of manufacturing firms.
